1 大衞壽高年邁、立子所羅門爲以色列王、 So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
2 集以色列諸牧伯、及祭司利未人、 And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.
3 利未人自三十歲以上者、核其丁男、共三萬八千人、 Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.
4 其中督耶和華室之工者、二萬四千、爲有司士師者六千、 Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the Lord; and six thousand were officers and judges:
5 司閽者四千、以大衞所作之樂器、頌讚耶和華者四千、 Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the Lord with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.
6 大衞循利未子革順、哥轄、米拉利、分其裔爲班次、 And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
7 革順裔拉但、示每、 Of the Gershonites were, Laadan, and Shimei.
8 拉但子、耶歇爲長、又有細坦、約珥、共三人、 The sons of Laadan; the chief was Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.
9 示每子、示羅密、哈薛、哈蘭三人、皆爲拉但族長、 The sons of Shimei; Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the chief of the fathers of Laadan.
10 示每子、雅哈、細拿、耶烏施、比利亞、此四人、皆示每之子、 And the sons of Shimei were, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.
11 雅哈爲長、細撒次之、耶烏施與比利亞、丁男無多、故歸一族核數、 And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according to their father’s house.
12 哥轄子、暗蘭、以斯哈、希伯倫、烏薛四人、 The sons of Kohath; Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.
13 暗蘭子、亞倫、摩西、亞倫及其子孫、永別爲聖、以別至聖之物、焚香於耶和華前、而供役事、且奉其名爲人祝嘏、歷世靡曁、 The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the Lord, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.
14 上帝僕摩西之裔、其名錄於利未支派中、 Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.
15 摩西子、革舜、以利以謝、 The sons of Moses were, Gershom, and Eliezer.
16 革舜子、細布業爲長、 Of the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief.
17 以利以謝子、利哈比雅爲長、以利以謝無他子、惟利哈比雅子甚多、 And the sons of Eliezer were, Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had none other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.
18 以斯哈子、示羅密爲長、 Of the sons of Izhar; Shelomith the chief.
19 希伯倫子、耶利雅爲長、次亞瑪利雅、三雅哈悉、四耶加面、 Of the sons of Hebron; Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
20 烏薛子、米迦爲長、次耶西雅、 Of the sons of Uzziel; Michah the first, and Jesiah the second.
21 米拉利子、抹利、母示、抹利子、以利亞撒、基士、 The sons of Merari; Mahli, and Mushi. The sons of Mahli; Eleazar, and Kish.
22 以利亞撒卒、無子有女、同宗基士子娶之、 And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them.
23 母示子、末力、以得、耶利摩三人、 The sons of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.
24 此乃利未子孫、循其宗族、凡爲族長、按名見核、自二十歲以上、供耶和華室之役事、 These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the Lord, from the age of twenty years and upward.
25 大衞曰、以色列之上帝耶和華賜民綏安、且永居於耶路撒冷、 For David said, The Lord God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:
26 利未人無庸復舁會幕、及供事之器皿、 And also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.
27 循大衞臨終所命、利未人自二十歲以上者核之、 For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:
28 其職乃侍亞倫子孫、供耶和華室之役事、在院宇及房屋、潔諸聖物、服役於上帝室、 Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
29 掌陳設之餅、素祭之細麪、無酵之薄餅、盤炙油浸之物、及諸度量、 Both for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;
30 朝夕立而稱謝頌讚耶和華、 And to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord, and likewise at even;
31 安息日、月朔、節期、循其常例定數、恆獻燔祭於耶和華、 And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the Lord in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the Lord:
32 又守會幕及聖所、並偕其昆弟亞倫子孫、供耶和華室之役事、 And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the Lord.
