| 1 | 大衞曰、此乃耶和華上帝之室、以色列燔祭之壇、○ | Then David said, This is the house of the Lord God, and this is the altar of the burnt offering for Israel. |
| 2 | 大衞命集旅於以色列地之人、選石工鑿石、以建上帝室、 | And David commanded to gather together the strangers that were in the land of Israel; and he set masons to hew wrought stones to build the house of God. |
| 3 | 大衞備鐵甚多、以爲門扉之釘及鈎、又備銅無算、 | And David prepared iron in abundance for the nails for the doors of the gates, and for the joinings; and brass in abundance without weight; |
| 4 | 香柏無數、蓋西頓推羅人運之甚多也、 | Also cedar trees in abundance: for the Zidonians and they of Tyre brought much cedar wood to David. |
| 5 | 大衞曰、我子所羅門尚冲弱、爲耶和華建室、必極壯麗、聲譽榮光、播於萬國、故我必爲之備、於是大衞未死之先、儲材豐盛、○ | And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the Lord must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death. |
| 6 | 大衞召子所羅門、囑其爲以色列之上帝耶和華建室、 | Then he called for Solomon his son, and charged him to build an house for the Lord God of Israel. |
| 7 | 謂之曰、我子歟、我有意爲我上帝耶和華之名建室、 | And David said to Solomon, My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build an house unto the name of the Lord my God: |
| 8 | 惟耶和華降諭於我曰、爾流人血甚多、屢經大戰、不可爲我名建室、因爾多流人血於地、爲我目擊、 | But the word of the Lord came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight. |
| 9 | 爾將生子、彼處平康、厥名所羅門、我必錫以綏安、使免四周諸敵之擾、彼在位時、我必錫綏安於以色列族、 | Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days. |
| 10 | 彼將爲我名建室、彼必爲我子、我必爲其父、固其國位於以色列、歷世弗替、 | He shall build an house for my name; and he shall be my son, and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever. |
| 11 | 我子歟、願耶和華偕爾、願爾亨通、建爾上帝耶和華之室、循其所言、 | Now, my son, the Lord be with thee; and prosper thou, and build the house of the Lord thy God, as he hath said of thee. |
| 12 | 願耶和華賦爾睿智聰明、使爾受命治以色列、守爾上帝耶和華之律、 | Only the Lord give thee wisdom and understanding, and give thee charge concerning Israel, that thou mayest keep the law of the Lord thy God. |
| 13 | 爾若遵行耶和華藉摩西、命以色列人之典章律例、則必亨通、強乃心、壯乃志、勿畏葸、勿恐惶、 | Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the Lord charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed. |
| 14 | 我於困難中、爲耶和華室、備金十萬他連得、銀百萬他連得、銅鐵甚多、莫權其數、亦備木石、爾可增益之、 | Now, behold, in my trouble I have prepared for the house of the Lord an hundred thousand talents of gold, and a thousand thousand talents of silver; and of brass and iron without weight; for it is in abundance: timber also and stone have I prepared; and thou mayest add thereto. |
| 15 | 且爾多有匠役、石工木工、及諸巧匠、 | Moreover there are workmen with thee in abundance, hewers and workers of stone and timber, and all manner of cunning men for every manner of work. |
| 16 | 金銀銅鐵無數、爾其興起造作、願耶和華偕爾、 | Of the gold, the silver, and the brass, and the iron, there is no number. Arise therefore, and be doing, and the Lord be with thee. |
| 17 | 大衞又命以色列諸牧伯、助子所羅門曰、 | David also commanded all the princes of Israel to help Solomon his son, saying, |
| 18 | 爾上帝耶和華非偕爾、賜爾四周平康乎、蓋彼以斯土之民付我手、俾地爲耶和華與其民所轄、 | Is not the Lord your God with you? and hath he not given you rest on every side? for he hath given the inhabitants of the land into mine hand; and the land is subdued before the Lord, and before his people. |
| 19 | 今當專爾心、定爾志、尋求爾上帝耶和華、興起而建上帝耶和華之聖所、舁耶和華之約匱、及上帝之聖器、入於爲耶和華名所建之室、 | Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the Lord God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the Lord. |
