1 以色列衆集於希伯崙、見大衞曰、我爲爾之骨肉、 Then all Israel gathered themselves to David unto Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
2 昔掃羅爲王時、爾率以色列人出入、爾上帝耶和華謂爾曰、爾必爲我民之牧、我民以色列之君、 And moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, thou wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the Lord thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel.
3 以色列長老、咸至希伯崙見王、大衞在希伯崙、於耶和華前、與之立約、遂膏大衞、爲以色列王、循耶和華藉撒母耳所言、 Therefore came all the elders of Israel to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the Lord; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the Lord by Samuel.
4 大衞與以色列衆至耶路撒冷、卽耶布斯、時、耶布斯土人居彼、 And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.
5 耶布斯人謂大衞曰、爾必不得入此、然大衞取錫安之保障、卽大衞城、 And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David.
6 大衞曰、先攻耶布斯人者、必爲首爲長、洗魯雅子約押先上、遂爲首、 And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.
7 大衞居其保障、故稱曰大衞城、 And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.
8 大衞自米羅起、四周築城、其餘乃約押修葺、 And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
9 大衞日漸昌大、萬軍之耶和華偕之也、○ So David waxed greater and greater: for the Lord of hosts was with him.
10 從大衞之勇士、爲首者有力於其國、與以色列衆立之爲王、循耶和華諭以色列之命、 These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the Lord concerning Israel.
11 其人如左、哈革摩尼人雅朔班、爲諸將之首、一時揮戈擊斃三百人、 And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at one time.
12 其次爲亞合人、朵多子以利亞撒、爲三勇士之一、 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighties.
13 彼與大衞在巴斯達閔、非利士人咸集以戰、在彼有田、滿種麰麥、民遁於非利士人前、 He was with David at Pas–dammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.
14 彼立於田間、以護其地、殺非利士人、耶和華拯之、使獲大勝、 And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the Lord saved them by a great deliverance.
15 三十首領中、有三人下至山巖、入亞杜蘭穴、以覲大衞、非利士軍建營於利乏音谷、 Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Philistines encamped in the valley of Rephaim.
16 時、大衞在保障、非利士汛在伯利恆、 And David was then in the hold, and the Philistines’ garrison was then at Beth–lehem.
17 大衞歆羨曰、深願有人由伯利恆門側之井、汲水以飲我、 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beth–lehem, that is at the gate!
18 三人衝過非利士軍、由伯利恆門側之井汲水、攜詣大衞、大衞不飲、乃灌之於耶和華前、 And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth–lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the Lord,
19 曰、願我上帝禁我行此、我豈飲冒死者之血乎、蓋彼舍命取之、故不飲、三勇士所爲若此、 And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.
20 其中約押弟雅比篩爲首、嘗揮戈擊斃三百人、遂在三人中得名譽、 And Abishai the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three: for lifting up his spear against three hundred, he slew them, and had a name among the three.
21 彼在三人中爲尊、故爲其魁、惟不得與首三人同列、 Of the three, he was more honourable than the two; for he was their captain: howbeit he attained not to the first three.
22 又有甲薛勇士耶何耶大子比拿雅、大有作爲、殺摩押人亞利伊勒二子、又當雨雪時、下阱擊獅、 Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many acts; he slew two lionlike men of Moab: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.
23 又殺埃及偉人、其人身長五肘、其手執戈、大如織器之梁、比拿雅執杖往迎、奪其戈而殺之、 And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and slew him with his own spear.
24 比拿雅所爲如是、遂在三勇士中得名譽、 These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among the three mighties.
25 彼較三十首領爲尊、惟不及前三人、大衞立之爲侍衞長、○ Behold, he was honourable among the thirty, but attained not to the first three: and David set him over his guard.
26 軍中之勇士、卽約押弟亞撒黑、伯利恆人朵多子伊勒哈難、 Also the valiant men of the armies were, Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth–lehem,
27 哈律人沙瑪、比倫人希利斯、 Shammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,
28 提哥亞人益吉子以拉、亞拿突人亞比以謝、 Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abi–ezer the Antothite,
29 戶沙人西比該、亞合人以來、 Sibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,
30 尼陀法人瑪哈萊、尼陀法人巴拿子希立、 Maharai the Netophathite, Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite,
31 便雅憫族、基比亞人利拜子以太、比拉頓人比拿雅、 Ithai the son of Ribai of Gibeah, that pertained to the children of Benjamin, Benaiah the Pirathonite,
32 迦實溪人戶萊、亞拉巴人亞比、 Hurai of the brooks of Gaash, Abiel the Arbathite,
33 巴路米人押斯瑪弗、沙勒本人以利雅哈巴、 Azmaveth the Baharumite, Eliahba the Shaalbonite,
34 基孫人哈深諸子、哈拉人沙基子約拿單、 The sons of Hashem the Gizonite, Jonathan the son of Shage the Hararite,
35 哈拉人沙甲子亞希暗、吾珥子以利法勒、 Ahiam the son of Sacar the Hararite, Eliphal the son of Ur,
36 米基拉人希弗、比倫人亞希雅、 Hepher the Mecherathite, Ahijah the Pelonite,
37 迦密人希斯羅、伊斯拜子拿萊、 Hezro the Carmelite, Naarai the son of Ezbai,
38 拿單弟約珥、哈基利子彌伯哈、 Joel the brother of Nathan, Mibhar the son of Haggeri,
39 亞捫人洗勒、比錄人拿哈萊、爲洗魯雅子約押執兵之士、 Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Berothite, the armourbearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,
40 以帖人以拉、及迦立、 Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,
41 赫人烏利亞、亞萊子撒拔、 Uriah the Hittite, Zabad the son of Ahlai,
42 流便人示撒子亞第拿、爲流便族長、與從者三十人、 Adina the son of Shiza the Reubenite, a captain of the Reubenites, and thirty with him,
43 又有瑪迦子哈難、彌特尼人約沙法、 Hanan the son of Maachah, and Joshaphat the Mithnite,
44 亞施他拉人烏西亞、亞羅珥人何坦子沙瑪、耶利、 Uzzia the Ashterathite, Shama and Jehiel the sons of Hothan the Aroerite,
45 申利子耶疊、與其弟提洗人約哈、 Jediael the son of Shimri, and Joha his brother, the Tizite,
46 瑪哈未人以利業、伊利拿安子耶利拜、約沙未雅、摩押人伊特瑪、 Eliel the Mahavite, and Jeribai, and Joshaviah, the sons of Elnaam, and Ithmah the Moabite,
47 以利業、俄備得、並米瑣八人雅西業、 Eliel, and Obed, and Jasiel the Mesobaite.
