| 1 | 主耶和華示我一事、爲王刈草之後、草復萌蘖、是時彼造蝗蟲、 | Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings. |
| 2 | 蝗蟲食盡境內之草、我曰、主耶和華歟、求爾赦宥、雅各微小、何能卓立乎、 | And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord God, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small. |
| 3 | 耶和華回意曰、必免其災、耶和華言之矣、○ | The Lord repented for this: It shall not be, saith the Lord. |
| 4 | 主耶和華復示我一事、主耶和華以火施罰、涸其巨淵、將焚土地、 | Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord God called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part. |
| 5 | 我曰、主耶和華歟、求爾止息、雅各微小、何能卓立乎、 | Then said I, O Lord God, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small. |

| 7 | 又示我一事、爰有牆垣、依準繩所築者、主執準繩、立於其側、 | Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand. |
| 8 | 耶和華諭我曰、阿摩司歟、爾所見維何、對曰、準繩、曰、我將置準繩於我民以色列中、不復赦宥之、 | And the Lord said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more: |
| 9 | 以撒之崇邱必荒寂、以色列之聖所必荒蕪、我將興起、以刃攻耶羅波安家、○ | And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword. |
| 10 | 伯特利之祭司亞瑪謝、遣人詣以色列王耶羅波安曰、阿摩司在以色列家、圖謀叛爾、彼之所言、國不能堪、 | Then Amaziah the priest of Beth–el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words. |
| 11 | 蓋阿摩司曰、耶羅波安必死於刃、以色列必被虜、離其故土、 | For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land. |
| 12 | 亞瑪謝又謂阿摩司曰、先見歟、爾其遁往猶大地、在彼可得餬口、而預言焉、 | Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there: |
| 13 | 惟在伯特利勿復預言、蓋此爲王之聖所、國家之宮室也、 | But prophesy not again any more at Beth–el: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court. |
| 14 | 阿摩司對曰、我素非先知、亦非先知弟子、乃牧人治桑者、 | Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit: |
| 15 | 耶和華取我於羣羊之後、謂我曰、往哉、向我民以色列預言、 | And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel. |
| 16 | 今爾其聽耶和華言、爾曰勿對以色列預言、勿對以撒家發言、 | Now therefore hear thou the word of the Lord: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac. |
| 17 | 故耶和華曰、爾妻將在邑中爲妓、爾子女將仆於刃、爾地將度以繩而被分、爾身將死於穢地、以色列必被虜、離其故土、 | Therefore thus saith the Lord; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land. |
