| 2 | 時、伯特利人遣沙利色、利堅米勒、偕其從者、求恩於耶和華、 | When they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regem–melech, and their men, to pray before the Lord, |
| 3 | 謂萬軍之耶和華室中之祭司、與先知曰、我於五月間、仍當哭泣齋戒、循我歷年所行乎、 | And to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the Lord of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years? |

| 5 | 其告斯土之民、及諸祭司曰、爾於五月七月、禁食哭泣、歷七十年、豈爲我禁食乎、 | Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me? |
| 6 | 爾式飲式食、豈非爲己而食、爲己而飲乎、 | And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves? |
| 7 | 耶和華藉古先知所宣之言、爾不宜聽之乎、其時耶路撒冷及四周之邑、有居民、且興盛、南土平原、亦有居民焉、○ | Should ye not hear the words which the Lord hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain? |
| 8 | 耶和華諭撒迦利亞曰、 | And the word of the Lord came unto Zechariah, saying, |
| 9 | 萬軍之耶和華云、當以公正行鞫、以仁慈矜憫相待、 | Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother: |
| 10 | 勿虐遇孤寡、賓旅貧乏、勿中心謀惡、以害昆弟、 | And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart. |
| 11 | 惟彼不從、而轉其肩、塞耳不聽、 | But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. |
| 12 | 鐵石其心、不聽法律、與萬軍之耶和華以其神藉古先知所傳之言、緣此、萬軍之耶和華大發其怒、 | Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the Lord of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the Lord of hosts. |
| 13 | 萬軍之耶和華曰、我呼之、而彼不聽、彼呼我、我亦不聽、 | Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the Lord of hosts: |
| 14 | 我將以旋風、散之於素所不識之邦、厥後其地成爲荒蕪、無人來往、致可悅之地荒寂焉、 | But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate. |
