1 使徒與在猶太之兄弟、聞異邦人亦受上帝道、 And the apostles and brethren that were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.
2 及彼得上耶路撒冷、奉割禮者與之爭曰、 And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,
3 爾入未受割者之室、與之共食耶、 Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.
4 彼得乃依次述其事曰、 But Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,
5 我在約帕祈禱、神遊象外、異象中見一器、如大布繫四角、自天縋至我前、 I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
6 我注目視之、內有地上四足之畜、及野獸、昆蟲、飛鳥、 Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
7 且聞聲曰、彼得起、殺而食之、 And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.
8 我曰、主、不然、俗物及不潔者、未嘗入我口也、 But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
9 復有聲自天曰、上帝所潔者、勿以爲俗也、 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
10 如是者三、則皆復曳於天、 And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.
11 適有三人、遣自該撒利亞詣我、立我寓所之前、 And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Cesarea unto me.
12 聖神命我同往、勿區別、此兄弟六人偕行、咸入其人之室、 And the spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house:
13 彼告我儕、曾見天使立於其室、曰、當遣人往約帕、請西門稱彼得者、 And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;
14 彼將以言告爾、俾爾與全家、藉之得救、 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
15 我甫言時、聖神臨之、如初臨於我儕然、 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
16 我遂憶主言曰、約翰固以水施洗、惟爾曹將受洗於聖神焉、 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
17 夫上帝旣以恩賜予之、一如我儕在信主耶穌基督之時、我何人斯、能阻上帝耶、 Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
18 衆聞之默然、歸榮上帝、曰、上帝亦賜異邦人改悔、而得生矣、○ When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
19 因司提反遭難、而四散者、行至腓尼基、居比路、安提阿、第傳道於猶太人而已、 Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.
20 中有居比路古利奈數人至安提阿、亦語於希利尼人、宣主耶穌、 And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.
21 主之手偕之、信而歸主者甚衆、 And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
22 在耶路撒冷之會、風聞此事、遂遣巴拿巴往安提阿、 Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
23 旣至、見上帝之恩、則喜、勸衆堅心、恆在於主、 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
24 蓋巴拿巴、善人也、充乎聖神與信、而歸主者益增、 For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
25 巴拿巴往大數訪掃羅、遇之、則攜至安提阿、 Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:
26 與會衆偕集者一年、訓誨多人、門徒之稱基督徒、自安提阿始也、○ And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
27 是時有先知數人、自耶路撒冷至安提阿、 And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
28 中有亞迦布者、感於聖神而起、示天下將有大饑、至革老丟時、果應之、 And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Cesar.
29 門徒定意各量其力、施濟猶太之兄弟、 Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judea:
30 於是託巴拿巴掃羅之手、寄於諸長老焉、 Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
