| 2 | 依父上帝之豫知而蒙選、由聖神而成聖、以致順服、灑以耶穌基督之血者、願恩惠平康、益增於爾、○ | Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied. |

| 6 | 爾於此則喜甚、但今或須受諸試而暫憂、 | Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: |
| 7 | 使爾信之驗、寶於火煉可壞之金、於耶穌基督之顯著、得厥讚美、及尊與榮、 | That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: |
| 8 | 夫爾未見而愛之、今雖不見而信之、則喜甚、其樂也、乃言不能罄、榮莫與京者也、 | Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: |
| 9 | 得爾信之效、卽爾靈之救、 | Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. |
| 10 | 斯救也、諸先知豫言將臨於爾之恩者、且探索而研究之、 | Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: |
| 11 | 乃考基督之神在其衷者、豫證基督受苦、而後得榮、所指何時、並何如時、 | Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. |
| 12 | 彼得啟示、非爲己、乃爲爾曹而役斯事、卽今宣福音者、賴自天所遣之聖神、告爾此事也、天使亦欲詳察之、○ | Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. |
| 13 | 故宜束爾志、制爾心、專望於耶穌基督顯時將錫之恩、 | Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; |
| 14 | 如順命之子、不狥昔時無知之慾、 | As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: |
| 15 | 召爾者聖矣、爾於諸行亦宜效其聖、 | But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; |
| 16 | 蓋記云、爾宜聖、因我聖也、 | Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. |
| 17 | 爾若籲不以貌視人、依行而鞫之父、則旅居斯世、自當儆惕、 | And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: |
| 18 | 緣知爾見贖、脫祖父所傳之妄行、非以金銀可壞之物、 | Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; |
| 19 | 乃以寶血、如無疵無玷之羔、卽基督之血也、 | But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: |
| 20 | 彼於創世之先、固爲上帝所豫知、但在季世、爲爾藉之信上帝者而顯焉、 | Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, |
| 21 | 上帝自死起之、予之榮、致爾信爾望、皆在上帝、 | Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. |
| 22 | 爾曹旣循眞理、以潔己心、致愛兄弟無僞、則宜切心相愛、 | Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: |
| 23 | 以爾重生、非由可壞之種、乃由不可壞者、卽上帝之道、生而恆存者也、 | Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. |
| 24 | 蓋曰、世人如草、其榮如花、草枯花謝、 | For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: |
| 25 | 惟主道永存、斯道也、卽所宣於爾之福音也、 | But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. |
