| 1 | 以色列族居什亭、淫於摩押女、 | And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. |
| 2 | 蓋其女請民至、同祭其神、民遂食其祭品、共拜其神、 | And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. |
| 3 | 以色列族附於巴力毘珥、耶和華怒之、 | And Israel joined himself unto Baal–peor: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel. |
| 4 | 諭摩西曰、取彼民長、向日懸於耶和華前、使耶和華釋怒於以色列族、 | And the Lord said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the Lord against the sun, that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Israel. |
| 5 | 摩西告以色列士師曰、凡附於巴力毘珥者、爾曹各誅其人、 | And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baal–peor. |
| 6 | 摩西與以色列會衆、號哭於會幕門、時、有以色列人攜米甸女、適其同儕、爲衆目擊、 | And, behold, one of the children of Israel came and brought unto his brethren a Midianitish woman in the sight of Moses, and in the sight of all the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping before the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. |
| 7 | 祭司亞倫孫、以利亞撒子非尼哈見之、遂離會衆、取戟於手、 | And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand; |
| 8 | 襲彼以色列人之後、入其穹廬、以戟刺其人、及女之腹、疫癘遂止於以色列族中、 | And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel. |
| 9 | 遘疫而死者、計二萬四千人、○ | And those that died in the plague were twenty and four thousand. |
| 10 | 耶和華諭摩西曰、 | And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, |
| 11 | 祭司亞倫孫、以利亞撒子非尼哈、以我嫉邪爲心、致我釋怒於以色列人、當嫉邪時、不行殲滅、 | Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy. |
| 12 | 爾其告之、我將賜以平康之約、 | Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace: |
| 13 | 使彼及裔恆爲祭司、蓋爲其上帝嫉邪、爲以色列民贖罪、 | And he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel. |
| 14 | 與米甸女同戮之以色列人、乃西緬族長、撒路子心利、 | Now the name of the Israelite that was slain, even that was slain with the Midianitish woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a chief house among the Simeonites. |
| 15 | 被誅之女、乃米甸族長蘇珥之女哥斯比、○ | And the name of the Midianitish woman that was slain was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur; he was head over a people, and of a chief house in Midian. |
| 16 | 耶和華諭摩西曰、 | And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, |
| 17 | 爾必擾害米甸人而擊之、 | Vex the Midianites, and smite them: |
| 18 | 蓋米甸人擾害爾曹、於奉毘珥、及其姊妹、米甸牧伯女哥斯比之事、詭計誘爾、是女於遘疫時、因奉毘珥之事、亦見殺焉、 | For they vex you with their wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian, their sister, which was slain in the day of the plague for Peor’s sake. |
