| 1 | 兄弟乎、我心所願、而祈於上帝者、俾以色列人得救也、 | Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. |
| 2 | 我爲之證、彼爲上帝熱衷、但非依眞知耳、 | For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. |
| 3 | 蓋不識上帝之義、而求立己之義、故不服上帝之義也、 | For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. |
| 4 | 夫律盡於基督、致義夫諸信者、 | For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. |
| 5 | 摩西書云、行律之義者、則因之而生、 | For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. |
| 6 | 惟由信之義則曰、爾勿意謂誰升於天、卽言攜基督而下也、 | But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) |
| 7 | 誰下於淵、卽言攜基督自死而上也、 | Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) |
| 8 | 然則何謂耶、曰、斯道密邇乎爾、在汝口、在汝心、卽由信之道、我儕所宣也、 | But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; |
| 9 | 若爾以口認耶穌爲主、心信上帝自死起之、則得救、 | That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. |
| 10 | 蓋人心信以致義、口認以致救、 | For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. |
| 11 | 經云、凡信之者不啟羞、 | For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. |
| 12 | 夫猶太人、希利尼人、無所區別、咸共一主、其豐恩及於凡籲之者、 | For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. |
| 13 | 故曰、籲主名者、悉得救也、 | For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. |
| 14 | 然未嘗信之、何由籲之、未嘗聞之、何由信之、未有宣者、何由聞之、 | How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? |
| 15 | 未有遣者、何由宣之、如經云、報諸善之嘉音者、其步履美何如哉、 | And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! |
| 16 | 然非皆聽受嘉音、以賽亞云、主、我所宣者、誰信之乎、 | But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? |
| 17 | 是信由於聞、而聞由於基督之道也、 | So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. |
| 18 | 我則曰、彼豈未聞乎、誠聞之矣、經云、其聲徧於宇內、其言達於地極、 | But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. |
| 19 | 我又曰、以色列民豈未知乎、昔摩西云、我將以異族激爾憤、且將以蚩氓觸爾怒、 | But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you. |
| 20 | 以賽亞毅然而言曰、未求我者、我與之遇、未詢我者、我爲之見、 | But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me. |
| 21 | 惟指以色列民、則曰、我終日舉手、招悖逆有違言之民矣、 | But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people. |
