| 1 | 上帝僕、耶穌基督使徒保羅、依上帝選民之信、與合乎敬虔眞理之識、 | Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; |
| 2 | 希望無誑之上帝、在永世前所許之永生、 | In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; |
| 3 | 惟屆期以宣布昭著其道、乃依拯救我儕之上帝命、而託於我者也、 | But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour; |
| 4 | 書達提多、依共有之信爲我眞子者、願恩惠平康、由父上帝及我救者基督耶穌歸爾、○ | To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour. |
| 5 | 我留爾於革哩底、使正其缺、於諸邑舉任長老、如我所命、 | For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee: |
| 6 | 若有無可責者、爲一婦之夫、子女信道、未有訟其無度弗順者、 | If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly. |
| 7 | 蓋監督如上帝家宰、必無可責、不自恃、不輕怒、不酗酒、不敺擊、不黷貨、 | For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre; |
| 8 | 惟厚待賓旅、樂善、貞正、公義、清潔、節制、 | But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate; |
| 9 | 持守所訓之眞道、俾能以正教勸誨、折服有違言者、○ | Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. |
| 10 | 蓋多有弗順者、言虛誕、行欺詐、奉割禮者尤甚、 | For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: |
| 11 | 宜杜其口、彼爲非義之利、教所不當教、傾覆人之家室、 | Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake. |
| 12 | 其族有一先知曰、革哩底人恆言誑、爲惡獸、爲慵惰之饕餮、 | One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. |
| 13 | 此證確然、故宜嚴責之、使無疚於道、 | This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; |
| 14 | 勿聽猶太人之虛談、及背眞理者之諸誡、 | Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. |
| 15 | 於潔者凡物皆潔、惟於汚而不信者、一無所潔、倂其志趣天良、亦俱汚矣、 | Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. |
| 16 | 自謂識上帝、行則背之、是爲可憎、悖逆、自絕於諸善工者、 | They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. |
