| 1 | 兄弟乎、論及時期、無庸書以示爾、 | But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. |
| 2 | 蓋爾詳知、主之日至、如夜間之盜、 | For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. |
| 3 | 人方謂平康穩固、滅亡突及之、如產難之及於姙婦、而莫能避也、 | For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. |
| 4 | 兄弟乎、爾非在暗中、致是日如盜襲爾、 | But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. |
| 5 | 爾皆爲屬光之人、屬晝之人、我儕不由於夜、或於暗也、 | Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. |
| 6 | 勿如衆寢、宜儆醒節制、 | Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. |
| 7 | 蓋寢者寢於夜、醉者醉於夜、 | For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. |
| 8 | 但我儕旣屬晝、則宜節制、以信與愛爲胸鏡、以得救之望爲兜鍪、 | But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. |
| 9 | 上帝豫定我儕、非致於怒、乃由我主耶穌基督而得救、 | For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, |
| 10 | 彼爲我死、使我或寤或寢、偕彼而生、 | Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. |
| 11 | 故宜彼此勸慰、互相建立、如爾所行、○ | Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. |
| 12 | 兄弟乎、我求爾、凡在爾中勤勞、且爲主治爾警爾者、爾其識之、 | And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; |
| 13 | 因其所爲、深愛而極重之、亦當彼此和輯、 | And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves. |
| 14 | 我勸兄弟、妄者警之、怯者勵之、弱者扶之、寬以待衆、 | Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. |
| 15 | 愼勿以惡報惡、惟彼此恆趨於善、且及於衆、 | See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. |
| 16 | 喜樂靡曁、 | Rejoice evermore. |
| 17 | 祈禱不輟、 | Pray without ceasing. |
| 18 | 凡事感謝、此乃上帝之旨、由基督耶穌及於爾者也、 | In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. |
| 19 | 毋熄聖神、 | Quench not the Spirit. |
| 20 | 毋藐豫言、 | Despise not prophesyings. |
| 21 | 考驗諸事、惟善是執、 | Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. |
| 22 | 諸惡是戒、○ | Abstain from all appearance of evil. |
| 23 | 願平康之上帝、使爾純聖、保全爾靈與心與身、於我主耶穌基督降臨之日、悉無可責、 | And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 24 | 召爾者乃誠、必踐其言、○ | Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. |
| 25 | 兄弟乎、爲我儕祈禱、○ | Brethren, pray for us. |
| 26 | 宜接吻惟聖、問諸兄弟安、 | Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss. |
| 27 | 我因主命爾、讀此書於諸兄弟、○ | I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren. |
| 28 | 願我主耶穌基督之恩偕爾曹、 | The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. The first epistle unto the Thessalonians was written from Athens. |
