| 1 | 兄弟乎、我猶有言、因主耶穌、求爾勸爾、依爾素受於我者、當如何而行、悅乎上帝、旣行之、則宜增益之、 | Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. |
| 2 | 爾知我由主耶穌以何誡授爾、 | For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. |
| 3 | 夫爾成聖戒淫、乃上帝之旨、 | For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: |
| 4 | 欲爾各知以聖以尊、自安其室、 | That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; |
| 5 | 毋縱慾、猶不識上帝之異邦人、 | Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: |
| 6 | 勿踰閑、欺乃兄弟、凡如此者、主必報之、如我昔所告爾而證之也、 | That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. |
| 7 | 蓋上帝召我、非致汚、乃成聖、 | For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. |
| 8 | 故拒之者非拒人、乃拒賜聖神之上帝也、○ | He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit. |
| 9 | 至於愛兄弟、無庸書以示爾、因爾自受教於上帝、而相愛矣、 | But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another. |
| 10 | 且行於徧馬其頓之兄弟、但我勸爾、宜增益之、 | And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more; |
| 11 | 又當恬靜是務、己事是圖、手自操作、一如我命、 | And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; |
| 12 | 俾正爾行以向外人、致無匱乏、○ | That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing. |
| 13 | 兄弟乎、至於已寢者、我不欲爾不知、免爾憂傷、如無望者然、 | But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. |
| 14 | 若信耶穌死而復起、則宗耶穌而寢者、上帝亦將引與俱來、 | For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. |
| 15 | 我以主言告爾、迨主臨時、我儕之生存者、不先乎已寢者、 | For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. |
| 16 | 蓋主將以大呼、與天使長之聲、及上帝之角、自天而降、則宗基督而死者必先起、 | For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: |
| 17 | 厥後我儕之生存者、將偕彼衆見攝於雲際、迎主於天空、遂與主永偕矣、 | Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. |
| 18 | 故爾宜以此言相慰也、 | Wherefore comfort one another with these words. |
