| 2 | 遣我兄弟提摩太、於基督福音爲上帝役者、以堅爾曹、爲爾之信而慰爾、 | And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith: |
| 3 | 免有人爲諸苦所搖、蓋爾自知分定於此也、 | That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. |
| 4 | 我偕爾時、豫告我儕將受難、後果如是、爾所知也、 | For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know. |
| 5 | 緣此、我不能復忍、遣人欲知爾信、恐爲試者所惑、而我徒勞、 | For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain. |
| 6 | 今提摩太自爾返、報我嘉音、言爾之信與愛、且常緬懷我、切願見我、如我於爾然、 | But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you: |
| 7 | 兄弟乎、故我於諸顚沛患難中、因爾之信而受慰、 | Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith: |
| 8 | 爾若堅立主中、我則生矣、 | For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord. |
| 9 | 我在上帝前、爲爾所樂之樂、將何以答謝上帝乎、 | For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God; |
| 10 | 晝夜切求、願見爾面、以補爾信之不逮、○ | Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith? |
| 11 | 願我父上帝、與我主耶穌、導我以坦途就爾、 | Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you. |
| 12 | 又願主俾爾之相愛、益而充之、且及於衆、如我於爾然、 | And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: |
| 13 | 致堅爾心、聖而無間、在我父上帝前、於我主耶穌偕其諸聖者而臨之時焉、 | To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints. |
