| 1 | 兄弟乎、爾知我儕昔入爾中、非徒然也、 | For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain: |
| 2 | 我儕於腓立比受苦受辱、乃爾所知、然賴我上帝、在窘迫中與爾侃侃言上帝之福音、 | But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention. |
| 3 | 蓋我之勸誨、非出於謬、非出於汚、非以詭譎、 | For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile: |
| 4 | 惟上帝旣鑒我、福音是託、遂如是而言、非悅乎人、乃悅乎鑒我心之上帝也、 | But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts. |
| 5 | 我儕從無諂諛、乃爾所知、亦未掩飾貪婪、上帝爲之證、 | For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness: |
| 6 | 雖爲基督使徒、可令人崇敬、然未求榮於爾、亦未求榮於人、 | Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ. |
| 7 | 惟温柔於爾中、猶乳媼煦嫗其子、 | But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children: |
| 8 | 我儕旣如是戀慕爾、願予爾者、不第上帝之福音、亦己之生命、因爾爲我所深愛也、 | So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us. |
| 9 | 兄弟乎、爾念我勞苦、晝夜操作、免累爾中一人、以宣上帝福音於爾、 | For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God. |
| 10 | 我儕向爾信者所行、如何以聖以義、無疵可摘、爾與上帝證之、 | Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe: |
| 11 | 爾亦知我儕如何視爾各人、勸勉、安慰、指證、猶父之於子、 | As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children, |
| 12 | 致爾行合乎上帝、卽召爾入其國、而與其榮者也、○ | That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. |
| 13 | 是以我謝上帝不輟、因爾由我聞上帝道而納之、非如人道、乃上帝道、是誠上帝道運行於爾信者之中也、 | For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. |
| 14 | 兄弟乎、爾嘗效猶太屬基督耶穌之上帝會、以爾受苦於同族、猶彼於猶太人也、 | For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews: |
| 15 | 猶太人殺主耶穌及諸先知、又窘逐我儕、不悅於上帝、且敵衆人、 | Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: |
| 16 | 禁我儕語於異邦人、使之得救、常盈厥罪、而震怒臨之、至乎其極矣、○ | Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost. |
| 17 | 兄弟乎、我儕暫違爾、乃以面、非以心、殷勤益切、甚願見爾、 | But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire. |
| 18 | 故我保羅一再欲就爾、而撒但阻我、 | Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us. |
| 19 | 夫我儕所望所樂、及所誇之冕爲何、非爾於我主耶穌降臨時、得在其前乎、 | For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming? |
| 20 | 蓋爾乃我之榮、我之樂也、 | For ye are our glory and joy. |
