1 時、衆集數萬、致相蹂踐、耶穌謂其徒曰、當謹防法利賽人之酵、卽僞善也、 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
2 蓋未有掩而不露、隱而不知者、 For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.
3 是故爾言於幽暗者、必聞於光明、附耳語於密室者、必宣於屋上、 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
4 我友乎、我語汝、殺身而後、別無能爲者、勿懼之、 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
5 我以當懼者示爾、卽殺後、又有權投於地獄者、我誠語汝、當懼者此也、 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
6 五雀非二分金售乎、然於上帝前、其一亦不忘也、 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
7 卽爾首之髮、亦皆見數、勿懼、爾較多雀尤貴也、 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
8 我又語汝、凡認我於人前者、人子於上帝使者前、亦必認之、 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
9 不認我於人前者、亦必不見認於上帝使者前、 But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
10 凡以言攻人子者、其人將得赦、惟褻凟聖神者、不得赦、 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
11 人曳爾至會堂、及執政操權者前、毋慮何以對、何所言、 And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:
12 蓋於彼時、聖神必教爾以所當言也、○ For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.
13 衆中一人謂之曰、夫子、令我兄弟與我析產、 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
14 耶穌曰、人乎、誰任我爲爾聽訟分析者乎、 And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?
15 遂語衆曰、愼戒貪婪、蓋人之生、不在所蓄之豐裕也、 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
16 又設喻曰、有一富人、土地蕃殖、 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 自忖曰、無處儲我物產、將何爲乎、 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18 旣而曰、我知所爲矣、必毀我倉、而建大者、以儲百穀財物、 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19 我將謂我靈曰、靈乎、爾多財貨積爲歷年之用、可安然飲食喜樂也、 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 惟上帝謂之曰、無知者乎、今夜將索爾靈、則所備者誰歸、 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21 凡積財於己、而於上帝前不富者亦如是、○ So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
22 耶穌謂其徒曰、故我語汝、毋慮生何以食、身何以衣、 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
23 蓋生貴於糧、身貴於衣也、 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
24 試思烏鴉、不稼不穡、無倉無廩、而上帝且育之、爾之於鳥、其貴何如耶、 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?
25 爾曹誰能以思慮延生一刻乎、 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
26 至微者爾尚不能、何慮其餘耶、 If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
27 試思百合花如何而長、不勞不紡、我語汝、當所羅門榮華之極、所衣者不及此花之一也、 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
28 夫野草今日尚存、明日投爐、上帝猶衣之若此、況於爾小信者乎、 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
29 勿求何以食、何以飲、亦勿縈擾、 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30 凡此皆異邦人所求、爾父知爾需之、 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
31 爾惟其國是求、則此物將加諸爾、 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
32 二三子勿懼、爾父喜以國賜爾、 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
33 當售爾所有以施濟、爲己備不舊之囊、及不匱之財在天、卽盜不至、蠹不敗之處、 Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
34 蓋爾財所在、爾心亦在焉、○ For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
35 爾腰宜束、燈宜燃、 Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;
36 效人俟主自婚筵歸、至而叩門、卽爲之啟也、 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
37 主至、見僕儆醒、其僕福矣、我誠語汝、主將自束其帶、令僕席坐、前而供事之、 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
38 其至也、或二更、或三更、見僕如是、其僕福矣、 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
39 若家主知盜何時至、則必儆醒、不容穴其室、此爾所知也、 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.
40 爾亦當備之、因爾不意之時、人子至矣、○ Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
41 彼得曰、主歟、爾設此喻、向我儕乎、抑向衆人乎、 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?
42 主曰、孰爲忠智之家宰、主任之督其家人、依時予之糧乎、 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
43 主至、見僕行是、其僕福矣、 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
44 我誠語汝、主將任之、以督其所有、 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.
45 倘斯僕意謂、我主稽遲、遂扑僕婢、食飲且醉、 But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
46 乃於不意之日、不知之時、其主至、處以極刑、擬與不信者同科、 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
47 僕知主意而不備、不順其意者、見扑必多、 And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
48 惟不知而作當扑之事者、見扑必少、蓋多予之、必多取之、多託之、必多索之、○ But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
49 我來以火投地、倘火旣燃、非我所欲乎、 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
50 我有當受之洗、尚未成時、我抑鬱何如乎、 But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
51 爾以我來施和平於世乎、我語汝、非也、乃分爭耳、 Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
52 今而後、一家五人將分爭、三攻二、二攻三、 For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
53 父攻子、子攻父、母攻女、女攻母、姑攻婦、婦攻姑焉、○ The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
54 遂謂衆曰、爾曹見雲西起、卽言將雨、果有之、 And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.
55 風自南來、卽言將暑、亦有之、 And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.
56 僞善者乎、爾識別天地色象、何不識別此時乎、 Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?
57 且何不自審所宜乎、 Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?
58 與訟爾者往見有司、途間當力求解釋、恐曳爾於士師、士師付爾於吏、吏下爾於獄、 When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.
59 我語汝、爾非償盡毫釐、斷不得出也、 I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite.
