| 1 | 耶穌在一處祈禱、旣畢、有一徒曰、主教我儕祈禱、如約翰之教其徒然、 | And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. |
| 2 | 耶穌曰、爾曹祈禱、宜云、父歟、願爾名聖、爾國臨格、 | And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. |
| 3 | 所需之糧、日日賜我、 | Give us day by day our daily bread. |
| 4 | 免我諸罪、蓋人負我、我亦免之、勿導入試、○ | And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. |
| 5 | 又曰、爾中孰有友、夜半就之曰、友乎、以三餅借我、 | And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; |
| 6 | 蓋我友來自途間、無以供之、 | For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? |
| 7 | 彼自內應之曰、毋擾我、門已閉、兒曹與我在牀、不能起以予爾、 | And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. |
| 8 | 我語汝、縱不以友故起而予之、然因其迫切、必起予之、應其所需、 | I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. |
| 9 | 我又語汝、求則予爾、尋則遇之、叩門則爲爾啟、 | And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. |
| 10 | 蓋凡求者得也、尋者遇也、叩者啟也、 | For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. |
| 11 | 爾中爲父者、孰有子求餅而予之石乎、求魚而予之蛇以代魚乎、 | If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? |
| 12 | 抑求卵而予之蠍乎、 | Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? |
| 13 | 爾曹雖不善、尚知以嘉貺予爾子、況於天父、豈不更以聖神予求之者乎、○ | If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? |
| 14 | 耶穌逐一瘖鬼、鬼旣出、而瘖者言、衆奇之、 | And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. |
| 15 | 中有數人曰、彼藉鬼王別西卜逐鬼耳、 | But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. |
| 16 | 又有試之者、求自天之兆、 | And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven. |
| 17 | 耶穌知其意、語之曰、凡國自相分爭、必墟、家自相分爭、必傾、 | But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth. |
| 18 | 若撒但自相分爭、其國何以立哉、因爾云我藉別西卜逐鬼、 | If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. |
| 19 | 使我藉別西卜逐鬼、則爾子弟逐鬼孰藉乎、彼將議爾矣、 | And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. |
| 20 | 若我藉上帝之能逐鬼、則上帝國臨爾矣、 | But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. |
| 21 | 夫勇士具武備而守其府、則所有者安矣、 | When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: |
| 22 | 惟更勇者至而勝之、則盡奪其所恃武具、而分其贓、 | But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. |
| 23 | 夫不與我偕者、卽敵我、不與我斂者、卽散也、 | He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. |
| 24 | 邪鬼旣出其人、遊行旱地、求安不得、則曰、我將返我所出之室、 | When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. |
| 25 | 至、則見其掃除修飾矣、 | And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. |
| 26 | 遂往、又攜七鬼更惡於己者、入而居之、其人之後況、較前尤劇矣、○ | Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. |
| 27 | 言時、衆中一婦、揚聲謂之曰、胎妊爾、乳哺爾者福矣、 | And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. |
| 28 | 耶穌曰、未若聽上帝道而守之者福也、○ | But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. |
| 29 | 衆集就之、耶穌曰、此世乃惡世也、而求異兆、約拿之兆而外、無以示之、 | And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. |
| 30 | 蓋約拿爲兆於尼尼微人、人子亦將爲兆於斯世、 | For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. |
| 31 | 當鞫日、南方女王、將與斯世之人、同起而罪之、以其來自地極、聽所羅門之哲言、況在此有大於所羅門者乎、 | The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. |
| 32 | 當鞫日、尼尼微人將與斯世、同立而罪之、以其因約拿所宣而改悔、況在此有大於約拿者乎、○ | The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. |
| 33 | 人燃燈、未有置於窖中、或斗下者、乃置檠上、俾入者見其光也、 | No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light. |
| 34 | 夫身之燈、目也、爾目瞭、則全體光、目眊、則全體暗、 | The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. |
| 35 | 故宜省之、恐爾衷之光暗也、 | Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. |
| 36 | 儻爾全體皆光、而無一毫之暗、則厥光充盈、似燈之光燦照爾矣、○ | If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light. |
| 37 | 言時、有法利賽人邀之共食、耶穌入而坐、 | And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat. |
| 38 | 法利賽人見其不先濯而食、異之、 | And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner. |
| 39 | 主謂之曰、今爾法利賽人、惟杯盤之外是潔、然爾內則充以刧奪與惡慝、 | And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. |
| 40 | 無知者乎、造其外者、不亦造其內耶、 | Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also? |
| 41 | 惟以在內者施濟、則於爾無不潔矣、○ | But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you. |
| 42 | 禍哉、爾法利賽人乎、以爾於薄荷、芸香、及諸蔬、十輸其一、於義及向上帝之愛、則忽之、此乃爾所當行、而彼亦不可遺也、 | But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. |
| 43 | 禍哉、爾法利賽人乎、以爾好會堂高坐、受祝於市也、 | Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets. |
| 44 | 禍哉爾乎、以爾似隱沒之墓、履其上者不知也、○ | Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them. |
| 45 | 有律師應之曰、夫子、斯言亦辱我儕矣、 | Then answered one of the lawyers, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou reproachest us also. |
| 46 | 曰、禍哉、爾律師乎、以爾加難負之任於人、而己則不著一指、 | And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. |
| 47 | 禍哉爾乎、以爾建先知之墓、乃爾祖所殺者也、 | Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. |
| 48 | 如是、則爾祖所爲、爾證之、且與之、蓋彼殺先知、爾建其墓也、 | Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres. |
| 49 | 是故上帝之哲言有云、我將遣先知使徒就彼、其中有見殺者、有見迫者、 | Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute: |
| 50 | 致創世以來、所流先知之血、皆於此代而討焉、 | That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; |
| 51 | 卽自亞伯之血、至亡於殿壇間、撒迦利亞之血也、我誠語汝、必於此代而討焉、 | From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation. |
| 52 | 禍哉、爾律師乎、以爾嘗奪知識之鑰、己不入之、而將入者、爾亦阻之也、○ | Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered. |
| 53 | 出時、士子與法利賽人嚴迫之、激使多言、 | And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge him vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things: |
| 54 | 設伏伺之、欲執其自口而出者、 | Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of his mouth, that they might accuse him. |
