1 由上帝旨、爲耶穌基督使徒保羅、與兄弟提摩太、 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,
2 書達歌羅西衆聖徒之忠誠兄弟、在基督中者、願恩惠平康、由我父上帝歸爾、○ To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 我儕恆爲爾祈禱、謝上帝我主耶穌基督之父、 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
4 蓋聞爾於基督耶穌之信、及向諸聖徒之愛、 Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
5 因爾有望存之於天、卽爾昔於福音之眞道所聞者、 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
6 此已及爾、亦猶徧及天下、結實而增益、與在爾中無異、自爾聞之之日、而誠知上帝恩也、 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
7 如爾學於我所愛之同僕以巴弗、彼緣我儕爲基督忠役、 As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ;
8 且以爾由聖神之愛告我、○ Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.
9 故我儕自聞之之日、爲爾祈禱不已、俾爾充諸靈智靈識、洞悉其旨、 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10 致所行合乎主、盡悅其意、於諸善工結實、於識上帝增益、 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11 又依其有榮之權力、以諸能益爾能、俾於諸事、久耐、恆忍、喜樂、 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
12 且謝天父、使我儕堪與諸聖徒、同得光明之業、 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 彼已拯我脫夫幽暗之權、遷於愛子之國、 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 我儕由之得贖、卽罪得赦也、 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
15 彼乃莫能見之上帝像、爲凡受造者之首生、 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 蓋萬有本之而造、在天在地、有形無形、或位或權、或執政者、或有能者、皆由之而造、且歸之焉、 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 彼先萬有、萬有本之而立、 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
18 教會乃身、彼爲首、爲元始、自死而首生、致爲萬事倡、 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
19 蓋父喜以諸豐盛寓於其中、 For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;
20 且由之使萬有復和於己、乃以其十架之血而致和、在地在天者皆然、 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
21 夫爾素以惡行、爲異爲敵於心、 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
22 今因其身之死、致爾復和、維聖、無疵、無咎、薦於其前、 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
23 惟在爾恆於信、植基而固之、不移乎爾所聞福音之望、卽宣於天下萬人、我保羅爲其役者也、○ If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
24 今我緣爾受苦則喜、且爲基督之身卽教會、以我身補基督患難之不足耳、 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:
25 我已立爲教會之役、乃依上帝爲爾所授之職、徧宣其道、 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
26 卽歷世歷代所隱之奧祕、而今顯於聖徒者、 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
27 上帝樂以此奧祕之榮之富、示之異邦、卽基督在爾衷、爲有榮之望也、 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
28 我儕宣之、以諸智勸人訓人、俾得薦之、完全於基督中、 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
29 我亦爲此勤勞、依上帝之功用而盡力、乃以其大能行於我衷者焉、 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.
