| 1 | 我意已決、不復以憂就爾、 | But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness. |
| 2 | 我若令爾憂、則我所令憂者而外、孰令我樂乎、 | For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me? |
| 3 | 昔特書此、恐我來時、當使我樂者、反令我憂、蓋我深信爾衆以我之樂爲樂也、 | And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all. |
| 4 | 昔我哀痛迫切、不勝涕泣、以書遺爾、非令爾憂、乃使爾知我愛爾甚也、○ | For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you. |
| 5 | 儻有使之憂者、非第使我憂、亦畧使爾衆憂、曰畧者、不欲深責之也、 | But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all. |
| 6 | 若人受罰於衆、已足矣、 | Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many. |
| 7 | 爾寧赦之、慰之、免彼殷憂、而至沈溺、 | So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow. |
| 8 | 故勸爾曹、當顯其愛於彼焉、 | Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him. |
| 9 | 爲此我曾遺書、欲知爾曹凡事承順之徵、 | For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things. |
| 10 | 爾所赦者、我亦赦之、我若有所赦、乃緣爾於基督前赦之、 | To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; |
| 11 | 免撒但取便於我、蓋其詭謀、我儕非不知也、○ | Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. |
| 12 | 我爲基督福音、至特羅亞、由主爲闢厥門、 | Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord, |
| 13 | 因不遇兄弟提多、我心弗安、遂別其人、往馬其頓、 | I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia. |
| 14 | 感謝上帝、常於基督中導我而奏凱、且由我隨在顯揚識彼之臭味、 | Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. |
| 15 | 蓋於上帝前、我在得救者及淪亡者中、爲基督之馨香、 | For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: |
| 16 | 於此爲由死致死之臭味、於彼爲由生致生之臭味、孰堪任此乎、 | To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? |
| 17 | 我非似彼多人混上帝道、乃誠意由上帝、在上帝前基督中而言也、 | For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. |
