| 1 | 我保羅晤對則卑、暌違則勇者、以基督之温柔和平勸爾、 | Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you: |
| 2 | 有以我爲依血氣而行者、我決意以勇待之、求爾勿使我於晤對時、以待若人者待爾、 | But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. |
| 3 | 我雖行於血氣、非憑血氣而戰、 | For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: |
| 4 | 蓋我之戰具、非屬血氣、乃上帝視爲有能、破諸堅壘、 | (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) |
| 5 | 舉凡計謀及矜高、阻人識上帝者、我悉敗之、虜諸心志、降服基督、 | Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; |
| 6 | 且已設備、俟爾盡服、將譴責諸悖逆者、 | And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. |
| 7 | 爾觀外貌乎、若有自恃屬基督者、其再思之、如彼屬基督、我儕亦然、 | Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If any man trust to himself that he is Christ’s, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ’s, even so are we Christ’s. |
| 8 | 主賜我權、乃建爾、非覆爾、我雖過誇、亦無所愧焉、 | For though I should boast somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord hath given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I should not be ashamed: |
| 9 | 我言此、免似以書驚爾、 | That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters. |
| 10 | 或謂我書嚴厲、晤對時、則身柔言鄙、 | For his letters, say they, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible. |
| 11 | 然若人當思、暌違時書言如何、晤對時所行亦若是、 | Let such an one think this, that, such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present. |
| 12 | 有自譽者、我不敢與之匹、與之較、其人自相度、自相較、不智也、 | For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. |
| 13 | 但我儕不逾量而誇、惟依上帝所分我之限量、及乎爾者、 | But we will not boast of things without our measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God hath distributed to us, a measure to reach even unto you. |
| 14 | 我非逾乎量如不及爾者然、蓋我宣基督福音已及乎爾、 | For we stretch not ourselves beyond our measure, as though we reached not unto you: for we are come as far as to you also in preaching the gospel of Christ: |
| 15 | 我不以他人之功逾量而誇、惟望爾信增益、則我於爾中、依我限量而見重、致能昌盛、 | Not boasting of things without our measure, that is, of other men’s labours; but having hope, when your faith is increased, that we shall be enlarged by you according to our rule abundantly, |
| 16 | 使福音宣於爾地之外、而不以他人限量內已成之事而誇、 | To preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, and not to boast in another man’s line of things made ready to our hand. |
| 17 | 誇者宜以主而誇、 | But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. |
| 18 | 蓋見納者非自譽、乃主所譽也、 | For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth. |
