| 1 | 論供事聖徒、毋庸書以遺爾、 | For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you: |
| 2 | 蓋我知爾之願、誇於馬其頓人、言亞該亞人備之已經年、且爾之熱衷、鼓舞多人矣、 | For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many. |
| 3 | 今我遣兄弟、使爾有備、如我所言、免我爲爾之誇歸於虛也、 | Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready: |
| 4 | 亦恐馬其頓人偕來、見爾未備、致我因此篤信而啟羞、爾則無待言矣、 | Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting. |
| 5 | 故擬須請兄弟先詣爾、使爾昔所允之惠、豫爲之備、則顯由於樂輸、非由勉強也、○ | Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness. |
| 6 | 夫少稼少穡、多稼多穡、 | But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. |
| 7 | 宜各隨心志、毋憂毋強、蓋上帝愛夫樂施者也、 | Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. |
| 8 | 上帝能沛諸恩於爾、令爾萬事恆足、溢於諸善、 | And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: |
| 9 | 如經云、彼散財、彼濟貧、其義永存、 | (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. |
| 10 | 主賜種與播者、賜糧與食者、所賜者將倍爾所播之種、增爾行義之實、 | Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) |
| 11 | 俾爾凡事富有、得以博施、致人由我儕而謝上帝、 | Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God. |
| 12 | 蓋此供事之役、不第補聖徒之空乏、且因感謝之多、而得充裕也、 | For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God; |
| 13 | 彼由此役驗爾、以爾承順基督福音、博施於彼、且及於衆、歸榮上帝、 | Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men; |
| 14 | 亦以上帝在爾中之厚恩、戀慕乎爾、爲爾祈禱、 | And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you. |
| 15 | 感謝上帝、以其恩賜、言不能罄也、 | Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift. |
