|---|---|---|
You Can't Hide behind Evil To accept correction is wise, to reject it is stupid.
Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish. |
The Lord likes everyone who lives right, but he punishes everyone who makes evil plans. | A good man obtaineth favour of the Lord: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.
Sin cannot offer security! But if you live right, you will be as secure as a tree with deep roots. | A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
A helpful wife is a jewel for her husband, but a shameless wife will make his bones rot. | A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
Good people have kind thoughts, but you should never trust the advice of someone evil. | The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
Bad advice is a deadly trap, but good advice is like a shield. | The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
Once the wicked are defeated, they are gone forever, but no one who obeys God will ever be thrown down. | The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
Good sense is worthy of praise, but stupidity is a curse. | A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
It's better to be ordinary and have only one servant than to think you are somebody and starve to death. | He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.
Good people are kind to their animals, but a mean person is cruel. | A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
Hard working farmers have more than enough food; daydreamers are nothing more than stupid fools. | He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.
An evil person tries to hide behind evil; good people are like trees with deep roots. | The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
We trap ourselves by telling lies, but we stay out of trouble by living right. | The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
We are rewarded or punished for what we say and do. | A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.
Fools think they know what is best, but a sensible person listens to advice. | The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
Losing your temper is foolish; ignoring an insult is smart. | A fool’s wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.
An honest person tells the truth in court, but a dishonest person tells nothing but lies. | He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.
Sharp words cut like a sword, but words of wisdom heal. | There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.
Truth will last forever; lies are soon found out. | The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
An evil mind is deceitful, but gentle thoughts bring happiness. | Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.
Good people never have trouble, but troublemakers have more than enough. | There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
The Lord hates every liar, but he is the friend of all who can be trusted. | Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are his delight.
Be sensible and don't tell everything you know— only fools spread foolishness everywhere. | A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
Work hard, and you will be a leader; be lazy, and you will end up a slave. | The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.
Worry is a heavy burden, but a kind word always brings cheer. | Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.
You are better off to do right, than to lose your way by doing wrong. | The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.
Anyone too lazy to cook will starve, but a hard worker is a valuable treasure. | The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.
Living right is a pathway that leads to life and away from death. | In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
