Watch What You Say and Do
The Lord hates anyone who cheats, but he likes everyone who is honest.
A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight.
Too much pride can put you to shame. It's wiser to be humble. When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
If you do the right thing, honesty will be your guide. But if you are crooked, you will be trapped by your own dishonesty. The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.
When God is angry, money won't help you. Obeying God is the only way to be saved from death. Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.
If you are truly good, you will do right; if you are wicked, you will be destroyed by your own sin. The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.
Honesty can keep you safe, but if you can't be trusted, you trap yourself. The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.
When the wicked die, their hopes die with them. When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.
Trouble goes right past the Lord's people and strikes the wicked. The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.
Dishonest people use gossip to destroy their neighbors; good people are protected by their own good sense. An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.
When honest people prosper and the wicked disappear, the whole city celebrates. When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
Good people bring prosperity to their city, but deceitful liars can destroy a city. By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
It's stupid to say bad things about your neighbors. If you are sensible, you will keep quiet. He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
A gossip tells everything, but a true friend will keep a secret. A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
A city without wise leaders will end up in ruin; a city with many wise leaders will be kept safe. Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
It's a dangerous thing to guarantee payment for someone's debts. Don't do it! He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.
A gracious woman will be respected, but a ruthless man will only get rich. A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.
Kindness is rewarded— but if you are cruel, you hurt yourself. The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.
Meanness gets you nowhere, but goodness is rewarded. The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.
Always do the right thing, and you will live; keep on doing wrong, and you will die. As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.
The Lord hates sneaky people, but he likes everyone who lives right. They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the Lord: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.
You can be sure of this: All crooks will be punished, but God's people won't. Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
A beautiful woman who acts foolishly is like a gold ring on the snout of a pig. As a jewel of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.
Good people want what is best, but troublemakers hope to stir up trouble. The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
Sometimes you can become rich by being generous or poor by being greedy. There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
Generosity will be rewarded: Give a cup of water, and you will receive a cup of water in return. The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
Charge too much for grain, and you will be cursed; sell it at a fair price, and you will be praised. He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
Try hard to do right, and you will win friends; go looking for trouble, and you will find it. He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.
Trust in your wealth, and you will be a failure, but God's people will prosper like healthy plants. He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.
Fools who cause trouble in the family won't inherit a thing. They will end up as slaves of someone with good sense. He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.
Live right, and you will eat from the life-giving tree. And if you act wisely, others will follow. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
If good people are rewarded here on this earth, all who are cruel and mean will surely be punished. Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
