1	Die Gesetzgebung / Bestimmungen für die Alleinverehrung Gottes / Bestimmung über den einen heiligen Ort in Israel Und nun zu den Gesetzen und Bestimmungen, die ihr befolgen sollt. Handelt danach in dem Land, das der Herr, der Gott eurer Väter, euch gibt, um es in Besitz zu nehmen. Sie gelten Tag für Tag, solange ihr lebt. Und das sind die Gesetze und Bestimmungen:	These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the Lord God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth.
2	Zerstört alle Orte, wo die anderen Völker ihre Götter verehrt haben! Diese Völker werdet ihr ja vertreiben. Beseitigt ihre Götterbilder auf den hohen Bergen, auf den Hügeln und unter all den grünen Bäumen!	Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:
3	Reißt ihre Altäre nieder und zerschlagt ihre Kultsteine! Verbrennt ihre Kultpfähle mit Feuer und werft die Standbilder ihrer Götter um! So sollt ihr ihre Namen an diesen Orten auslöschen.	And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.
4	Ihr dürft den Herrn, euren Gott, nicht so verehren, wie diese Völker ihre Götter verehrt haben.	Ye shall not do so unto the Lord your God.
5	Der Herr, euer Gott, wird einen einzigen Ort auswählen auf dem Gebiet eines eurer Stämme. Dort wird er Wohnung nehmen. Dort will er in seinem Namen gegenwärtig sein. Dorthin sollt ihr kommen.	But unto the place which the Lord your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come:
6	Nur an diesen Ort sollt ihr eure Opfer bringen: eure Brandopfer und Schlachtopfer, den zehnten Teil und andere Abgaben, eure Dankopfer und was ihr noch freiwillig gebt, die Erstgeburt eurer Rinder, Schafe und Ziegen.	And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks:
7	Dort vor dem Herrn, eurem Gott, sollt ihr zusammen mit euren Familien essen. Freut euch, denn ihr habt viel geschafft – durch den Segen des Herrn, eures Gottes.	And there ye shall eat before the Lord your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the Lord thy God hath blessed thee.
8	Ihr dürft nicht weitermachen wie bisher: Jetzt macht jeder, was er für richtig hält.	Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.
9	Bisher habt ihr ja euer Ziel noch nicht erreicht und noch keine Ruhe gefunden. Euren Erbbesitz habt ihr noch nicht bekommen, den der Herr, euer Gott, euch bald geben wird.	For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the Lord your God giveth you.
10	Aber wenn ihr den Jordan überquert habt und im versprochenen Land lebt, soll es anders werden. Der Herr, euer Gott, gibt euch das Land als Erbbesitz. Er schenkt euch Ruhe vor allen euren Feinden ringsum, und ihr werdet in Sicherheit leben.	But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the Lord your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;
11	Dann wird der Herr den einen, einzigen Ort erwählen. Dort wird er in seinem Namen gegenwärtig sein. Dorthin sollt ihr alles bringen, wie ich es euch angeordnet habe: eure Brandopfer und Schlachtopfer, den zehnten Teil und andere Abgaben. Auch alle anderen Dinge sollt ihr dorthin bringen, die ihr aus Dankbarkeit Gott versprochen habt.	Then there shall be a place which the Lord your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the Lord:
12	Vor dem Herrn, eurem Gott, sollt ihr euch alle zusammen freuen: ihr, eure Söhne und Töchter, eure Sklaven und Sklavinnen, auch die Leviten aus eurem Wohnort. Denn sie haben keinen Anteil am Land und keinen Erbbesitz bekommen wie ihr.	And ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.
13	Achte darauf, Israel: Bring deine Brandopfer nicht irgendwo dar, an irgendeinem Ort, der dir gerade gefällt!	Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest:
14	Bring deine Brandopfer vielmehr an dem Ort dar, den der Herr erwählen wird. Er wird auf dem Gebiet eines deiner Stämme liegen. Dort sollst du all das tun, was ich dir geboten habe!	But in the place which the Lord shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.
15	Erlaubnis zum Schlachten und Essen an den Wohnorten Anders verhält es sich, wenn du Lust hast, Fleisch zu essen: Schlachte und iss in deinem Wohnort so viel, wie der Herr, dein Gott, dir schenkt. Du hast es durch seinen Segen bekommen. Jeder darf davon essen, ohne Vorschriften zur Reinheit beachten zu müssen – so wie man beim Essen von Gazelle oder Hirsch nicht darauf achten muss.	Notwithstanding thou mayest kill and eat flesh in all thy gates, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the roebuck, and as of the hart.
16	Nur das Blut darfst du nicht essen! Schütte es auf die Erde, dass es wie Wasser im Boden versickert!	Only ye shall not eat the blood; ye shall pour it upon the earth as water.
17	Folgendes darfst du an deinem Wohnort nicht essen: den zehnten Teil von deinem Korn, Wein und Olivenöl, die Erstgeburt von deinen Rindern, Schafen und Ziegen, alle Dankopfer, die du Gott versprochen hast, weitere freiwillige Opfer und andere heilige Abgaben.	Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy herds or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offering of thine hand:
18	Das alles sollst du am Heiligtum verzehren, vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott. Iss es an dem einen Ort, den der Herr, dein Gott, erwählen wird. Gemeinsam sollt ihr dort essen: du, deine Söhne und Töchter, deine Sklaven und Sklavinnen und der Levit aus deinem Wohnort. Sei fröhlich vor dem Herrn, deinem Gott, über alles, was du geschafft hast!	But thou must eat them before the Lord thy God in the place which the Lord thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God in all that thou puttest thine hands unto.
19	Pass auf, dass du die Leviten nicht im Stich lässt! Solange du im versprochenen Land lebst, ist es deine Pflicht, für sie zu sorgen.	Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite as long as thou livest upon the earth.
20	Der Herr, dein Gott, wird dein Gebiet erweitern, wie er es dir versprochen hat. Vielleicht sagst du dann: »Ich möchte Fleisch essen!« Denn du hast Appetit auf Fleisch. Dann iss ruhig nach Herzenslust Fleisch!	When the Lord thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul longeth to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.
21	Du darfst deine Tiere an deinem Wohnort schlachten, wenn der eine Ort zu weit entfernt ist. Das ist der Ort, den der Herr, dein Gott, auswählt, um dort in seinem Namen gegenwärtig zu sein. So wie ich dich angewiesen habe, sollst du deine Rinder, Schafe und Ziegen schlachten. Der Herr hat sie dir ja geschenkt. Iss davon in deinem Wohnort nach Herzenslust!	If the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy herd and of thy flock, which the Lord hath given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.
22	Jeder darf davon essen, ohne Vorschriften zur Reinheit beachten zu müssen – so wie man beim Essen von Gazelle oder Hirsch nicht darauf achten muss.	Even as the roebuck and the hart is eaten, so thou shalt eat them: the unclean and the clean shall eat of them alike.
23	Nur halte dich an diesen Grundsatz: Iss niemals das Blut! Denn das Blut ist das Leben. Iss das Leben nicht zusammen mit dem Fleisch!	Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh.
24	Du darfst es auf keinen Fall essen, sondern schütte es auf die Erde! Wie Wasser soll es im Boden versickern.	Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water.
25	Iss es nicht! Dann wird es dir und deinen Nachkommen gut gehen. Du tust, was richtig ist in den Augen des Herrn.	Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the Lord.
26	Mit den Abgaben, zu denen du verpflichtet bist, sollst du es anders machen. Gleiches gilt auch für die freiwilligen Opfer: Nimm sie und bring sie an den einen Ort, den der Herr erwählen wird.	Only thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, thou shalt take, and go unto the place which the Lord shall choose:
27	Bei deinen Brandopfern gehören Fleisch und Blut auf den Altar des Herrn, deines Gottes. Nicht so bei den Schlachtopfern: Da soll das Blut an den Altar gegossen werden, aber das Fleisch kannst du essen.	And thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the Lord thy God: and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the Lord thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh.
28	Beachte und befolge diese Opferregeln, die ich dir auftrage. Dir und deinen Nachkommen wird es dann für immer gut gehen. Denn so tust du, was gut und richtig ist in den Augen des Herrn, deines Gottes.	Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the Lord thy God.
29	Warnung, dem Vorbild der fremden Völker zu folgen Der Herr, dein Gott, wird die fremden Völker ausrotten. Dann wirst du in ihr Land kommen, um es in Besitz zu nehmen.	When the Lord thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;
30	Wenn das geschehen ist, pass auf: Mach nicht die gleichen Fehler wie die, die vor deinen Augen vernichtet wurden! Frag nicht nach ihren Göttern und sag nicht: »Wie haben diese fremden Völker ihre Götter verehrt? So will ich es auch machen!«	Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
31	Niemals darfst du den Herrn, deinen Gott, so verehren! Denn alles, was der Herr verabscheut und hasst, haben sie für ihre Götter getan. Sogar ihre Söhne und Töchter haben sie für ihre Götter verbrannt!	Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God: for every abomination to the Lord, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
32	—	What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
