1	Die Würde des Menschen FÜR DEN CHORLEITER. ZU SPIELEN AUF DEM MUSIKINSTRUMENT AUS GAT. EIN PSALM, VON DAVID.	O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
2	Herr , unser Herrscher, wie machtvoll ist dein Name auf der ganzen Erde! Deine Herrlichkeit strahlt über dem Himmel auf!	Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
3	Dem Geschrei von Kindern und Säuglingen hast du Macht verliehen über deine Widersacher. Feinden und Rachgierigen setzt du ein Ende.	When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
4	Schaue ich hinauf zum Himmel, staune ich über das Werk deiner Finger. Betrachte ich den Mond und die Sterne, die du dort oben befestigt hast, so frage ich:	What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
5	Was ist der Mensch, dass du an ihn denkst, das Menschenkind, dass du dich seiner annimmst?	For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6	Kaum geringer als Gott – so hast du den Menschen geschaffen. Du schmückst ihn mit einer Krone – so schenkst du ihm Herrlichkeit und Würde.	Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
7	Die Werke deiner Hände hast du ihm anvertraut. Alles hast du ihm zu Füßen gelegt:	All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
8	Schafe, Ziegen und Rinder – alle zusammen, und dazu die wilden Tiere auf dem Feld,	The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
9	die Vögel am Himmel und die Fische im Wasser und was sonst die Meere durchzieht.	O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
10	Herr, unser Herrscher, wie machtvoll ist dein Name auf der ganzen Erde!	—
