1	Der Retter kommt aus Betlehem Du aber, Betlehem Efrata, bist zu klein, um zu den Landstädten Judas zu zählen. Doch aus deiner Mitte soll einer kommen, der Herrscher sein wird in Israel. Seine Wurzeln reichen zurück bis in die Urzeit, seine Herkunft steht von Anfang an fest.	Now gather thyself in troops, O daughter of troops: he hath laid siege against us: they shall smite the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.
2	– Darum wird die Not nur so lange anhalten, bis eine Frau das Kind zur Welt gebracht hat. Dann wird der Rest seiner Brüder heimkehren zu den Menschen in Israel. –	But thou, Beth–lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.
3	Er wird auftreten und sein Volk weiden. Dazu gibt ihm der Herr die Kraft und die Macht. Sie liegt in dem Namen des Herrn, seines Gottes. Dann wird man wieder sicher im Land wohnen können. Denn seine Macht reicht bis zum Rand der Welt.	Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.
4	Er wird sich für den Frieden stark machen. Und wenn die Assyrer in unser Land einfallen und unseren Boden betreten? Dann wollen wir gegen sie sieben Herrscher aufstellen und acht Bundesgenossen, die uns schützen.	And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
5	Die machen das Land Assyrien mit dem Schwert nieder und das Land Nimrods mit gezückter Waffe. So wird er die Rettung vor den Assyrern vollziehen. Das wird geschehen, wenn sie in unser Land einfallen und unser Gebiet betreten.	And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.
6	Hoffnung für den Rest Israels Ein Rest der Nachkommen Jakobs wird mitten unter vielen Völkern leben: Er wird wie der Tau sein, der vom Herrn kommt, wie ein Regenschauer, der aufs Gras fällt. Er wird nicht auf einen Menschen hoffen und sich nicht auf Menschenkinder verlassen.	And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.
7	Der Rest der Nachkommen Jakobs wird unter Völkern, unter vielen Nationen leben: Er wird sein wie ein Löwe unter den Tieren des Waldes, wie ein junger Löwe unter Schafherden. Der packt seine Beute, wenn er umherstreift. Er zerreißt sie und keiner kann ihn daran hindern.	And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the Lord, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.
8	Wir bitten dich: Geh mit Gewalt gegen deine Feinde vor! Alle deine Gegner sollen vernichtet werden.	And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
9	Gottes Gericht reinigt das Land So lautet der Ausspruch des Herrn: Wenn der Tag des Gerichts gekommen ist, entferne ich die Pferde aus deiner Mitte. Dann zerstöre ich deine Streitwagen.	Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.
10	Ich vernichte die Städte in deinem Land und reiße alle deine Festungen nieder.	And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots:
11	Ich nehme dir die Zauberkünste aus der Hand. Kein Zeichendeuter wird mehr bei dir auftreten.	And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strong holds:
12	Ich entferne deine Götterbilder und die Kultsteine aus deiner Mitte. Dann kannst du vor dem Machwerk deiner Hände nicht mehr niederknien.	And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers:
13	Ich vernichte die Kultpfähle in deiner Mitte und zerstöre deine Städte.	Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine hands.
14	Und die Völker, die nicht auf mich gehört haben, ziehe ich voller Zorn zur Verantwortung.	And I will pluck up thy groves out of the midst of thee: so will I destroy thy cities.
15	—	And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the heathen, such as they have not heard.
