Long dispela taim Jetro, papa bilong meri bilong Moses, i kisim Sipora, meri bilong Moses, bihain long Moses i bin salim em i go bek. | Then Jethro, Moses’ father in law, took Zipporah, Moses’ wife, after he had sent her back,
Na tupela pikinini man bilong em, nem bilong wanpela em i Gersom. Long wanem Moses i tok, Mi bin i stap man bilong narapela hap long graun bilong narapela lain. | And her two sons; of which the name of the one was Gershom; for he said, I have been an alien in a strange land:
Na nem bilong arapela em Eliesar. Long wanem em i tok, God bilong papa bilong mi Em i helpim bilong mi, na Em i bin kisim bek mi long bainat bilong Fero. | And the name of the other was Eliezer; for the God of my father, said he, was mine help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh:
Na Jetro, papa bilong meri bilong Moses, em i kam long Moses wantaim ol pikinini man bilong Moses na meri bilong em long dispela ples i no gat man, em hap em i wokim kem long maunten bilong God. | And Jethro, Moses’ father in law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness, where he encamped at the mount of God:
Na em i tok long Moses, Mi stap papa bilong meri bilong yu, mi Jetro, na mi kam long yu wantaim meri bilong yu, na tupela pikinini man bilong em i stap wantaim em. | And he said unto Moses, I thy father in law Jethro am come unto thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her.
¶ Na Moses i go long bungim papa bilong meri bilong em, na em i lindaun, na givim kis long em. Na ol i askim arapela long ol i stap gutpela, o nogat. Na ol i kam insait long haus sel. | And Moses went out to meet his father in law, and did obeisance, and kissed him; and they asked each other of their welfare; and they came into the tent.
Na Moses i stori long papa bilong meri bilong em long olgeta samting BIKPELA i bin mekim long Fero na long ol Isip long helpim Isrel, na long olgeta hatwok wantaim pen i bin kamap long ol long rot, na pasin BIKPELA i mekim long kisim bek ol. | And Moses told his father in law all that the Lord had done unto Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, and all the travail that had come upon them by the way, and how the Lord delivered them.
Na Jetro i amamas tru long olgeta gutpela pasin BIKPELA i bin mekim long Isrel, lain Em i bin kisim bek long han bilong ol Isip. | And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which the Lord had done to Israel, whom he had delivered out of the hand of the Egyptians.
Na Jetro i tok, Blesing i stap long BIKPELA, Em i bin kisim bek yupela long lusim han bilong ol Isip, na long lusim han bilong Fero, na Em i kisim bek ol dispela manmeri long i stap aninit long han bilong ol Isip. | And Jethro said, Blessed be the Lord, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh, who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.
Nau mi save long BIKPELA i winim olgeta god. Long wanem, long dispela samting ol i mekim bikhet pasin Em i bin i stap antap long ol. | Now I know that the Lord is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.
Na Jetro, em papa bilong meri bilong Moses, em i kisim wanpela ofa bilong kuk olgeta na ol sakrifais bilong givim long God. Na Eron na olgeta lapun hetman bilong Isrel i kam long kaikai bret wantaim papa bilong meri bilong Moses long pes bilong God. | And Jethro, Moses’ father in law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses’ father in law before God.
¶ Na em i kamap olsem long tumora, long Moses i sindaun long i stap jas long ol manmeri. Na ol manmeri i sanap klostu long Moses long moningtaim inap long apinun tru. | And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening.
Na taim papa bilong meri bilong Moses i lukim olgeta samting Moses i mekim long ol manmeri, em i tok, Dispela samting yu mekim long ol manmeri em wanem samting? Bilong wanem yu sindaun, yu yet tasol, na olgeta manmeri i sanap klostu long yu long moningtaim inap long apinun tru? | And when Moses’ father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even?
Na Moses i tok long papa bilong meri bilong em, Long wanem ol manmeri i kam long mi long mekim askim long God. | And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God:

Na papa bilong meri bilong Moses i tok long em, Dispela samting yu mekim em i no gutpela. | And Moses’ father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.
Tru tumas bai yu hap i dai, em yu wantaim ol dispela manmeri i stap wantaim yu. Long wanem dispela samting em i hevi tumas long yu, yu yet tasol i no inap mekim dispela. | Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.
Harim gut nau nek bilong mi, na bai mi givim yu tok helpim na God bai stap wantaim yu. Yu mas i stap long i go long God long ol manmeri, bai yu ken bringim ol tok i go long God. | Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:
Na yu bai skulim ol long ol samting God i makim na ol lo, na soim ol rot ol i mas wokabaut long em, na wok ol i mas mekim. | And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.
Na moa tu yu mas kisim i kamaut long olgeta bilong dispela manmeri sampela man i inap tru, em lain i pret long God, na ol man bilong tok tru, na ol i no laikim tru pasin mangal. Na putim ol long bosim ol manmeri. Sampela bai stap ol hetman bilong tausen, na sampela ol hetman bilong handet, na sampela ol hetman bilong fifti, na sampela ol hetman bilong tenpela. | Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:
Na larim ol i stap jas bilong ol manmeri long olgeta taim. Na em bai stap olsem, long olgeta bikpela samting wan wan ol bai bringim dispela long yu, tasol long olgeta liklik samting wan wan ol bai stap jas. Olsem dispela bai stap isi moa long yu yet, na ol bai karim dispela hevi wantaim yu. | And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.
Sapos yu bai mekim dispela samting, na God i givim strongpela tok long yu olsem, orait yu bai inap long karim hevi, na tu olgeta bilong dispela manmeri bai go long ples bilong ol long bel isi. | If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.
Olsem na Moses i harim gut nek bilong papa bilong meri bilong em, na em i mekim olgeta samting em i bin tokaut long em. | So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.
Na Moses i makim ol man i inap tru long olgeta Isrel na em i mekim ol i kamap ol hetman bilong ol manmeri, em ol hetman bilong wan tausen, na ol hetman bilong wan handet, na ol hetman bilong fifti, na hetman bilong tenpela. | And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.
Na ol i stap jas bilong ol manmeri long olgeta taim. Ol i bringim ol hatpela samting long Moses, tasol long olgeta liklik samting wan wan, ol yet i stap jas. | And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.
Na Moses i larim papa bilong meri bilong em i lusim em. Na em i go long rot bilong em long graun bilong em yet. | And Moses let his father in law depart; and he went his way into his own land.
