1 ¶ Na olgeta dispela graun em i bilong wanpela tok ples, na bilong wanpela toktok. And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
2 Na em i kamap olsem, taim ol i lusim hap sankamap na wokabaut i go, long ol i lukim wanpela ples stret long hap bilong Sainar. Na ol i stap long dispela hap. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
3 Na ol i tokim wanpela i go long narapela, Kaman, yumi wokim ol brik, na kukim ol tru. Na ol i yusim brik long senisim ston, na ol i bin yusim graun malumalu long senisim simen. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
4 Na ol i tok, Kaman, yumi wokim wanpela biktaun na wanpela taua, husat antap bilong en i ken go inap long heven. Na yumi mekim wanpela nem bilong yumi, nogut yumi bruk nabaut long pes bilong dispela graun olgeta. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5 ¶ Na BIKPELA i kam daun bilong lukim dispela biktaun na dispela taua, dispela ol pikinini bilong ol man i wokim. And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6 Na BIKPELA i tok, Lukim, ol manmeri i wanpela, na olgeta i gat wanpela tok ples. Na dispela ol i stat long mekim. Na nau i no gat wanpela samting bai i pasim ol, dispela ol i bin tingting strong long mekim. And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
7 Kaman, Yumi go daun, na long dispela hap paulim tok ples bilong ol, inap long ol i no inap save long toktok wanpela i go long ol arapela. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
8 Olsem na BIKPELA i brukim ol nabaut i lusim dispela hap antap long pes bilong olgeta hap bilong dispela graun. Na ol i lusim wok bilong wokim dispela biktaun. So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
9 Olsem na ol i kolim nem bilong en Babel. Bilong wanem, long dispela hap BIKPELA i bin paulim tok ples bilong olgeta bilong dispela graun. Na long dispela hap BIKPELA i bin brukim ol nabaut antap long pes bilong dispela graun olgeta. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
10 ¶ Ol dispela em ol lain tumbuna bilong Siem. Siem i gat 100 krismas, na em i kamapim Arfaksat, tupela yia bihain long tait. These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:
11 Na Siem i stap laip bihain long em i kamapim Arfaksat 500 yia, na kamapim ol pikinini man na ol pikinini meri. And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
12 Na Arfaksat i stap laip 35-pela yia, na kamapim Sala. And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:
13 Na Arfaksat i stap laip bihain long em i kamapim Sala 403 yia, na kamapim ol pikinini man na ol pikinini meri. And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
14 Na Sala i stap laip 30-pela yia, na kamapim Eber. And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:
15 Na Sala i stap laip bihain long em i kamapim Eber 403 yia, na kamapim ol pikinini man na ol pikinini meri. And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
16 Na Eber i stap laip 34-pela yia, na kamapim Pelek. And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg:
17 Na Eber i stap laip bihain long em i kamapim Pelek 430 yia, na kamapim ol pikinini man na ol pikinini meri. And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.
18 Na Pelek i stap laip 30-pela yia, na kamapim Reu. And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:
19 Na Pelek i stap laip bihain long em i kamapim Reu 209 yia, na kamapim ol pikinini man na ol pikinini meri. And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.
20 Na Reu i stap laip 32-pela yia, na kamapim Seruk. And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug:
21 Na Reu i stap laip bihain long em i kamapim Seruk 207 yia, na kamapim ol pikinini man na ol pikinini meri. And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.
22 Na Seruk i stap laip 30-pela yia, na kamapim Nehor. And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:
23 Na Seruk i stap laip bihain long em i kamapim Nehor 200 yia, na kamapim ol pikinini man na ol pikinini meri. And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
24 Na Nehor i stap laip 29-pela yia, na kamapim Tera. And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:
25 Nehor i stap laip bihain long em i kamapim Tera 119 yia, na kamapim ol pikinini man na ol pikinini meri. And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.
26 Na Tera i stap laip 70-pela yia, na kamapim Ebram, Nehor, na Haran. And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
27 ¶ Nau ol dispela em ol lain tumbuna bilong Tera. Tera i kamapim Ebram, Nehor, na Haran. Na Haran i kamapim Lot. Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.
28 Na Haran i dai bipo long papa bilong em Tera long ples mama i karim em, long Ur bilong ol Kaldi. And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
29 Na Ebram na Nehor i kisim ol meri i kam long ol. Nem bilong meri bilong Ebram em Sarai. Na nem bilong meri bilong Nehor, Milka, pikinini meri bilong Haran, papa bilong Milka na papa bilong Iska. And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
30 Tasol Sarai i no inap long karim. Em i no gat wanpela pikinini. But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
31 Na Tera i kisim Ebram, pikinini man bilong em, na Lot, pikinini man bilong Haran, pikinini man bilong pikinini man bilong em, na Sarai, tambu pikinini meri bilong em, meri bilong pikinini man bilong em Ebram. Na ol i go ausait wantaim ol i lusim Ur bilong ol Kaldi, bilong go insait long hap bilong Kenan. Na ol i kamap long Haran, na stap long dispela hap. And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
32 Na ol de bilong Tera i em 205 yia. Na Tera i dai long Haran. And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
