¶ Olsem na, Jop, mi askim yu plis, harim ol toktok bilong mi, na harim gut olgeta toktok bilong mi. | Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.
Lukim, nau mi bin opim maus bilong mi, tang bilong mi i bin toktok insait long maus bilong mi. | Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.
Ol toktok bilong mi bai stap long stretpela pasin bilong bel bilong mi. Na tupela lip bilong maus bilong mi bai kolim save tru klia. | My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.
Spirit bilong God i bin wokim mi, na win bilong Man i Gat Olgeta Strong i bin givim mi laip. | The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
Sapos yu ken bekim tok long mi, putim ol toktok bilong yu long lain long ai bilong mi, sanap. | If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.
Lukim, bilong bihainim laik tru bilong yu, mi stap long ples bilong God. Mi tu God i wokim ausait long retpela graun. | Behold, I am according to thy wish in God’s stead: I also am formed out of the clay.
Lukim, pret nogut tru bilong mi i no inap mekim yu pret, na tu han bilong mi i no inap stap hevi antap long yu. | Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.
¶ Tru tumas, yu bin toktok long harim bilong mi, na mi bin harim nek bilong ol toktok bilong yu, i spik, | Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,
Mi stap klin na mi no kalapim lo, mi no mekim rong. Na tu i no gat sin nogut insait long mi. | I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.
Lukim, Em i painim ol sans long birua long mi, Em i kaunim mi olsem birua bilong Em. | Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,
Em i putim tupela lek bilong mi insait long ol diwai i kalabusim hanlek, Em i makim olgeta liklik rot bilong mi. | He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.
Lukim, long dispela yu no stap stretpela. Mi bai bekim tok long yu, long God i winim man. | Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.
Bilong wanem yu laik pait strong i birua long Em? Long wanem, Em i no mas givim stori gut long wanpela bilong ol samting Em i mekim. | Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
¶ Long wanem, God i toktok wanpela taim, yes, tupela taim, tasol man i no kisim save long dispela. | For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
Insait long wanpela driman, long wanpela driman samting bilong nait, taim slip i dip tru i pundaun antap long ol man, insait long ol hap slip antap long bet, | In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
Nau em i opim ol ia bilong ol man, na pasim tok bilong skul Em i givim ol, | Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,
Inap long Em i ken surikim man long as bilong wok Em i gat long ol, na haitim hambak pasin long man. | That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
Em i holimpas tewel bilong em long bikpela hul, na laip bilong em long dai olgeta long bainat. | He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
¶ Man i kisim stik tu wantaim pen antap long bet bilong em, na long planti bun tru bilong em wantaim strongpela pen, | He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:
Inap long laip bilong em i ting bret i sting olgeta, na tewel bilong em naispela kaikai. | So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.
Hangre i kaikai bodi bilong em olgeta, inap long ol i no inap lukim dispela. Na ol bun bilong em ol man i no lukim i kamap ples klia. | His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.
Yes, tewel bilong em i wok long go klostu long matmat, na laip bilong em long ol man bilong bagarapim olgeta. | Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.
Sapos i gat wanpela mausman wantaim em, wanpela man bilong tanim tok, wanpela namel long 1,000, bilong soim man stretpela pasin bilong Em, | If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:
Nau Em i soim marimari long em, na tok, Kisim bek em long em i no go daun long bikpela hul. Mi bin painim pinis wanpela pe bilong baim bek. | Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
Bodi bilong em bai stap nupela moa long bodi bilong wanpela pikinini. Em bai go bek long ol de bilong em bilong stap yangpela. | His flesh shall be fresher than a child’s: he shall return to the days of his youth:
Em bai beten i go long God, na Em bai mekim gutpela long em. Na em bai lukim pes bilong Em wantaim amamas tru. Long wanem, Em bai bekim stretpela pasin bilong man i go long em. | He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
Em i lukim ol man, na sapos wanpela i tok, Mi bin mekim sin, na paulim dispela samting i stretpela, na dispela i no helpim mi, | He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;
Em bai kisim bek tewel bilong em long i go daun long bikpela hul, na laip bilong em bai lukim lait. | He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.
¶ Harim, olgeta dispela samting God i wokim planti taim wantaim man, | Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,
Bilong bringim tewel bilong em i kam bek long bikpela hul, bilong kisim lait wantaim lait bilong ol man i stap laip. | To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.
Luksave gut, O Jop, harim gut long mi. Pasim maus bilong yu, na mi bai toktok. | Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.
Sapos yu gat wanpela samting long toktok, bekim tok long mi. Toktok, long wanem, mi gat laik long mekim yu kamap stretpela. | If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.
Sapos nogat, harim gut long mi. Pasim maus bilong yu, na mi bai skulim yu long save tru. | If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.
