|---|---|---|
¶ Tru tumas, i gat wanpela rot bilong silva, na wanpela ples bilong gol we ol i klinim dispela. | Surely there is a vein for the silver, and a place for gold where they fine it.
Ol i kisim ain ausait long dispela graun, na bras ol i kukim ausait long ston. | Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is molten out of the stone.
Em i putim wanpela pinis long tudak, na painimaut tru olgeta samting i inap tru, ol ston bilong tudak, na tewel bilong dai. | He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection: the stones of darkness, and the shadow of death.
Tait i bruk ausait long man i stap long en. Yes, ol wara ol lek i lusim tingting long ol. Ol i go drai, ol i go lusim ol man. | The flood breaketh out from the inhabitant; even the waters forgotten of the foot: they are dried up, they are gone away from men.
Long sait bilong dispela graun, ausait long en kaikai i kamap. Na aninit long en ol i tanim i kam antap samting olsem paia. | As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and under it is turned up as it were fire.
Ol ston bilong en em ol ples bilong ol sapaia. Na em i gat das bilong gol. | The stones of it are the place of sapphires: and it hath dust of gold.
I gat wanpela liklik rot, dispela i no gat wanpela pisin i save, na dispela ai bilong valtsa i no bin lukim. | There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture’s eye hath not seen:
Ol pikinini bilong laion i no bin wokabaut antap long en, o laion i strong tru i wokabaut klostu long en. | The lion’s whelps have not trodden it, nor the fierce lion passed by it.
Em i putim han bilong em ausait antap long ston. Em i kapsaitim ol maunten long ol rop daunbilo bilong ol. | He putteth forth his hand upon the rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots.
Em i katim ol riva namel long ol ston. Na ai bilong em i lukim olgeta wan wan samting i dia tumas. | He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.
Em i pasim ol tait long karamapim olgeta. Na dispela samting i stap hait em i bringim i kam ausait long lait. | He bindeth the floods from overflowing; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.
Tasol yumi bai lukim save tru we? Na ples bilong gutpela save i stap we? | But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?
Man i no save long pe bilong en. Na tu dispela yumi i no inap lukim long hap bilong ol man i stap laip. | Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.
¶ Ples daun tru i tok, Em i no stap insait long mi. Na biksi i tok, Em i no stap wantaim mi. | The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me.
Yumi no inap kisim dispela long gol, na tu bai yumi no inap skelim silva long pe bilong en. | It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.
Ol i no inap makim pe bilong en wantaim gol bilong Ofir, wantaim ol oniks i dia tumas, o wantaim sapaia | It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.
Gol na kristal i no inap wanmak stret long en. Na senis bilong en bai i no inap kam long ol bilas i dia tumas bilong gol i naispela. | The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for jewels of fine gold.
Ol bai i no inap mekim tok liklik long koral, o long ol kiau bilong golip. Long wanem, pe bilong save tru i antap moa long ol rubi. | No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies.
Topas bilong Itiopia bai i no inap long wanmak stret long en, na tu ol i no inap makim pe bilong en wantaim gol i klin. | The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.
¶ Save tru i kam long we nau? Na ples bilong gutpela save i stap we? | Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?
Taim yumi luksave olsem em i stap hait long ol ai bilong olgeta samting i stap laip, na God i holimpas klostu i pas long ol pisin bilong skai. | Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.
Bagarap olgeta na dai i tok, Mipela bin harim biknem tru bilong en wantaim ol ia bilong mipela. | Destruction and death say, We have heard the fame thereof with our ears.
God i gat gutpela save long rot bilong en, na Em i save long ples bilong en. | God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.
Long wanem, Em i lukluk i go long ol las hap bilong dispela graun, na Em i lukim ol samting aninit long heven olgeta, | For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;
Bilong wokim dispela hevi bilong ol win. Na Em i skelim ol wara wantaim skel. | To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure.
Taim Em i wokim wanpela strongpela tokaut bilong tingim ren, na wanpela rot bilong lait bilong klaut bilong klaut i pairap. | When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder:
Nau Em i bin lukim dispela, na tokaut long en. Em i redim dispela, yes, na painimaut tru dispela. | Then did he see it, and declare it; he prepared it, yea, and searched it out.
Na long man Em i tok, Lukim, pret long Bikpela, dispela em i save tru. Na long lusim pasin nogut em i gutpela save. | And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
