Na dispela man em i inap tru na stretpela, na wanpela husat i pret long God, na i ranawe long pasin nogut. | There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. |

| 3 | Kago bilong em tu em 7,000 sipsip, na 3,000 kemel, na 500 yok bulmakau man, na 500 donki meri, na wanpela bikpela hauslain tru, inap long dispela man em i bikpela moa long olgeta man bilong hap is. | His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east. |

Olsem tasol Jop i mekim olgeta taim. | And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually. |

Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. |
| 8 | Na BIKPELA i tokim Seten, Ating yu bin tingim na skelim wokboi bilong Mi Jop, long i no gat wanpela i olsem em long dispela graun, wanpela man i inap tru na wanpela stretpela man, wanpela husat i pret long God, na ranawe long pasin nogut? | And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? |
| 9 | Nau Seten i bekim BIKPELA, na tok, Ating i yes long Jop i pret long God nating? | Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? |
| 10 | Ating i yes long Yu bin wokim wanpela banis long liklik bus raun nabaut long em, na raun nabaut long hauslain bilong em, na raun nabaut long olgeta samting em i gat long olgeta wan wan sait? Yu bin blesim wok bilong tupela han bilong em, na kago bilong em i kamap planti moa long dispela hap. | Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. |

Olsem na Seten i go ausait i lusim pes bilong BIKPELA. | And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord. |
| 13 | ¶ Na i gat wanpela de taim ol pikinini man bilong em na ol pikinini meri bilong em i kaikai na dringim wain insait long haus bilong brata i bikpela moa bilong ol. | And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house: |
| 14 | Na i gat wanpela mausman i kam long Jop, na tok, Ol bulmakau man i brukim graun, na ol donki i kaikai klostu long ol. | And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them: |
| 15 | Na ol lain Siba i pundaun antap long ol, na kisim ol i go. Yes, ol i bin kilim i dai ol wokboi wantaim sap bilong bainat. Na mi wanpela tasol i ranawe pinis bilong tokim yu. | And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. |
| 16 | Taim em i toktok yet, i gat i kam tu narapela, na tok, Paia bilong God i pundaun long heven, na i bin kukim olgeta ol sipsip, na ol wokboi, na kaikai ol olgeta. Na mi wanpela tasol i ranawe pinis bilong tokim yu. | While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. |
| 17 | Taim em i toktok yet, i gat i kam tu narapela, na tok, Ol lain Kaldia i wokim tripela liklik ami, na pundaun antap long ol kemel, na ol i bin karim ol i go, yes, na kilim i dai ol wokboi wantaim sap bilong bainat. Na mi wanpela tasol i ranawe pinis bilong tokim yu. | While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. |
| 18 | Taim em i toktok yet, i gat i kam tu narapela, na tok, Ol pikinini man bilong yu na ol pikinini meri bilong yu i kaikai na dringim wain insait long haus bilong brata i bikpela moa bilong ol. | While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house: |

Na mi wanpela tasol i ranawe pinis bilong tokim yu. | And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. |
| 20 | ¶ Nau Jop i kirap, na brukim saket bilong em, na sevim het bilong em, na pundaun antap long graun, na lotu, | Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, |
| 21 | Na tok, Skin nating mi kam ausait long bel bilong mama bilong mi, na skin nating bai mi go bek long hap. BIKPELA i givim, na BIKPELA i bin tekewe. Blesing i stap long nem bilong BIKPELA. | And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. |
