¶ Olsem na nau Pailat i kisim Jisas, na wipim em. | Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
Na ol soldia i wokim wanpela hat king bilong ol rop i gat nil, na putim dispela antap long het bilong em, na ol i putim wanpela purpelpela longpela saket long em, | And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,
Na ol i tok, Gude, King bilong ol Ju! Na ol i paitim em wantaim ol han bilong ol. | And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
Olsem na Pailat i go ausait gen, na tokim ol, Lukim, mi bringim em i kam ausait long yupela, inap long yupela i ken save long mi no painim asua long em. | Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
Nau Jisas i kam ausait, taim em i werim hat king bilong ol rop i gat nil, na purpelpela longpela saket. Na Pailat i tokim ol, Lukim dispela man! | Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
Olsem na taim ol bikpris na ol ofisa i lukim em, ol i singaut, i spik, Nilim em long diwai kros, nilim em long diwai kros. Pailat i tokim ol, Yupela kisim em, na nilim em long diwai kros. Long wanem, mi no lukim asua long em. | When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.
Ol Ju i bekim tok long em, Mipela i gat wanpela lo, na long lo bilong mipela em i mas dai, bilong wanem, em i mekim em yet Pikinini Man bilong God. | The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
Olsem na taim Pailat i harim dispela tok, em i pret moa. | When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;
Na em i go gen insait long haus kot, na tokim Jisas, Yu kam long we? Tasol Jisas i no bekim tok long em. | And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
Nau Pailat i tokim em, Yu no toktok long mi? Ating i yes long yu save long mi gat pawa long nilim yu long diwai kros, na mi gat pawa long lusim yu i go? | Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
Jisas i bekim tok, Yu no ken gat pawa liklik i birua long mi, sapos wanpela i no givim dispela long yu long antap. Olsem na em husat i givim mi long yu i gat sin i bikpela moa. | Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
Na i stat long dispela taim i go Pailat i painim rot long lusim em i go. Tasol ol Ju i singaut, i spik, Sapos yu lusim dispela man i go, yu no stap pren bilong Sisa. Husat man i mekim em yet wanpela king i mekim toktok i birua long Sisa. | And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Cesar’s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Cesar.
Olsem na taim Pailat i harim dispela tok, em i bringim Jisas ausait, na sindaun long sia kot long dispela ples ol i kolim Plua Ston, tasol long tok ples Hibru, Gabata. | When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
Na em i de bilong redim pasova, na klostu olsem long namba sikis aua. Na em i tokim ol Ju, Lukim King bilong yupela! | And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!
Tasol ol i singaut, Rausim em, rausim em, nilim em long diwai kros. Pailat i tokim ol, Bai mi nilim King bilong yupela long diwai kros? Na ol bikpris i bekim tok, Mipela i no gat narapela king, Sisa tasol. | But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Cesar.
¶ Olsem na nau em i givim em long ol long nilim em long diwai kros. Na ol i kisim Jisas, na bringim em i go. | Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.
Na em i karim diwai kros bilong em i go ausait i go insait long ples ol i kolim ples bilong bun bilong het, dispela ol i kolim long tok ples Hibru Golgata, | And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
We ol i nilim em long diwai kros, na tupela arapela wantaim em, wanpela long narapela narapela sait, na Jisas namel. | Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
¶ Na Pailat i raitim wanpela het tok, na putim dispela antap long diwai kros. Na dispela rait em, JISAS BILONG NASARET KING BILONG OL JU. | And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Nau planti bilong ol Ju i ritim dispela het tok. Long wanem, ples we ol i nilim Jisas long diwai kros em i klostu long biktaun. Na em i raitim dispela long Hibru, na Grik, na Latin. | This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.
Nau ol bikpris bilong ol Ju i tokim Pailat, No ken raitim, King bilong ol Ju, tasol long em i tok, Mi King bilong ol Ju. | Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.
Pailat i bekim tok, Wanem samting mi bin raitim mi bin raitim. | Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.
Nau ol soldia, taim ol i bin nilim Jisas long diwai kros, i kisim ol klos bilong em, na wokim fopela hap, long olgeta wan wan soldia wanpela hap. Na tu saket bilong em. Nau saket bilong em i no gat samap, ol i wokim dispela i stat long antap i go long olgeta hap bilong en. | Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
Olsem na ol i toktok namel long ol yet, No ken larim yumi brukim dispela, tasol yumi mas tromoi satu long en, long em bai bilong husat, inap long rait bilong God i ken kamap pinis, dispela i tok, Ol i brukim ol klos bilong mi namel long ol, na long naispela klos bilong mi ol i bin tromoi satu. Olsem na ol dispela samting ol soldia i mekim. | They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
Nau mama bilong Jisas i sanap klostu long diwai kros, na susa bilong mama bilong em, Maria, meri bilong Kliopas, na Maria Makdalin. | Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
Olsem na taim Jisas i lukim mama bilong em, na disaipel i sanap klostu long em, husat em i laikim tru, em i tokim mama bilong em, Meri, lukim pikinini man bilong yu! | When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
Nau em i tokim dispela disaipel, Lukim mama bilong yu! Na long dispela aua dispela disaipel i kisim em i go long haus bilong em yet. | Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
Bihain long dispela, taim Jisas i save long nau olgeta samting i kamap pinis, inap long rait bilong God i ken kamap pinis, em i tok, Mi nekdrai. | After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
Nau i gat wanpela sospen samting ol i putim i pulap long vinega. Na ol i pulapim wanpela spans wantaim vinega, na putim dispela antap long hisop, na putim dispela klostu long maus bilong em. | Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
Olsem na taim Jisas i bin kisim vinega, em i tok, Em i pinis. Na em i lindaunim het bilong em, na lusim spirit bilong em. | When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
¶ Olsem na ol Ju, bikos em i de bilong redim pasova, inap long ol bodi i no ken stap yet antap long diwai kros long de sabat, (long wanem, dispela de sabat em i wanpela de antap,) i askim Pailat plis strong long ol i ken brukim ol lek bilong ol, na long ol i ken rausim ol i go. | The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
Nau ol soldia i kam, na brukim tupela lek bilong namba wan, na bilong arapela husat ol i nilim long diwai kros wantaim em. | Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
Tasol taim ol i kam long Jisas, na luksave long em i dai pinis, ol i no brukim tupela lek bilong em. | But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
Tasol wanpela bilong ol soldia i sutim sait bilong em wantaim wanpela spia bilong tromoi, na wantu blut na wara i kam ausait. | But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
Na em husat i lukim dispela i stap witnes, na witnes bilong em i tru. Na em i save long em i tok tru, inap long yupela i ken bilip. | And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
Long wanem, ol i mekim ol dispela samting, inap long rait bilong God i ken kamap pinis, Wanpela bun bilong em bai i no inap bruk. | For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
Na gen narapela rait bilong God i tok, Ol bai lukluk long em husat ol i sutim. | And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
¶ Na bihain long dispela, Josep bilong Arimatia, husat i wanpela disaipel bilong Jisas, tasol hait, long wanem, em i pret long ol Ju, i askim Pailat plis strong long em i ken kisim bodi bilong Jisas i go. Na Pailat i oraitim em. Olsem na em i kam, na kisim bodi bilong Jisas. | And after this Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
Na Nikodimas i kam tu, husat pastaim i kam long Jisas long nait, na em i bringim mur ol i bin abusim wantaim ol alo, i hevi klostu olsem 100 paun. | And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
Nau ol i kisim bodi bilong Jisas, na raunim dispela insait long klos bilong naispela laplap wantaim ol spais, olsem em i kastam bilong ol Ju long planim. | Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
Nau long ples we ol i nilim em long diwai kros i gat wanpela gaden. Na long dispela gaden wanpela nupela matmat i stap, we ol i no bin slipim wanpela man yet insait long en. | Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
Olsem na long dispela hap ol i slipim Jisas, bilong wanem, em i de bilong ol Ju bilong redim, long wanem, dispela matmat i stap klostu tru. | There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
