¶ Na Ehap i tokim Jesebel long olgeta samting Ilaija i bin mekim, na wantaim dispela olgeta long em i bin kilim i dai olgeta profet wantaim bainat olsem wanem. And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword.
Nau Jesebel i salim wanpela mausman long Ilaija, i spik, Olsem tasol ol god i ken mekim long mi, na moa tu, sapos mi no mekim laip bilong yu kamap olsem laip bilong wanpela bilong ol bipo long tumora klostu olsem dispela taim. Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time.
Na taim em i lukim dispela, em i kirap, na go bilong lukautim laip bilong em, na em i kamap long Biar-siba, dispela i bilong Juda, na lusim wokboi bilong em long dispela hap. And when he saw that, he arose, and went for his life, and came to Beer–sheba, which belongeth to Judah, and left his servant there.
Tasol em yet i go wanpela wan de wokabaut insait long ples i no gat man, na kam na sindaun aninit long wanpela diwai junipa. Na em i askim bilong em yet long em i ken dai. Na em i tok, Em inap. Nau, O BIKPELA, tekewe laip bilong mi. Long wanem, mi no winim ol tumbuna papa bilong mi. But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
Na taim em i slip na slip i dai aninit long wanpela diwai junipa, lukim, nau wanpela ensel i tasim em, na tokim em, Kirap na kaikai. And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
Na em i lukluk, na, lukim, i gat wanpela kek i kuk pinis antap long ol sakol, na wanpela jak wara klostu long het bilong em. Na em i bin kaikai na dring, na slipim em yet gen. And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
Na ensel bilong BIKPELA i kam gen namba tu taim, na tasim em, na tok, Kirap na kaikai. Bilong wanem, dispela wokabaut em i bikpela tumas long yu. And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
Na em i kirap, na em i bin kaikai na dring, na go long strong bilong dispela kaikai 40 de na 40 nait i go long Horep, maunten bilong God. And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
¶ Na em i kam long dispela hap long wanpela hul i go insait long maunten, na slip long dispela hap. Na, lukim, tok bilong BIKPELA i kam long em, na Em i tokim em, Yu mekim wanem long hia, Ilaija? And he came thither unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said unto him, What doest thou here, Elijah?
Na em i tok, Mi bin jeles tru bilong tingim God BIKPELA bilong ol ami. Long wanem, ol pikinini bilong Isrel i bin givim baksait long kontrak bilong Yu, ol i tromoi i go daun ol alta bilong Yu, na kilim i dai ol profet bilong Yu wantaim bainat. Na mi, yes, mi wanpela tasol, i stap yet. Na ol i painim laip bilong mi, long tekewe dispela. And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
Na Em i tok, Go ausait, na sanap antap long maunten long ai bilong BIKPELA. Na, lukim, BIKPELA i wokabaut klostu long em, na wanpela bikpela na strongpela win i brukim ol maunten, na brukim long ol planti hap hap ol ston long ai bilong BIKPELA. Tasol BIKPELA i no stap insait long dispela win. Na bihain long win wanpela guria i kamap. Tasol BIKPELA i no stap insait long dispela guria. And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:
Na bihain long guria wanpela paia, tasol BIKPELA i no stap insait long dispela paia. Na bihain long paia wanpela liklik nek i stap isi. And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
Na em i stap olsem, taim Ilaija i harim dispela, long em i karamapim pes bilong em long saket bilong em, na go ausait, na sanap long maus bilong hul i go insait long maunten. Na, lukim, i gat wanpela nek i kam long em, na tok, Yu mekim wanem long hia, Ilaija? And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah?
Na em i tok, Mi bin jeles tru bilong tingim God BIKPELA bilong ol ami. Bilong wanem, ol pikinini bilong Isrel i bin givim baksait long kontrak bilong Yu, ol i tromoi i go daun ol alta bilong Yu, na kilim i dai ol profet bilong Yu wantaim bainat. Na mi, yes, mi wanpela tasol, i stap yet. Na ol i painim laip bilong mi, long tekewe dispela. And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
Na BIKPELA i tokim em, Go, go bek long rot bilong yu long ples i no gat man Damaskas. Na taim yu kamap, makim Hasel wantaim wel long stap king long bosim Siria. And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:
Na Jehu, pikinini man bilong Nimsi, bai yu makim wantaim wel long stap king long bosim Isrel. Na Ilaisa, pikinini man bilong Safat bilong Ebel-mehola, bai yu makim wantaim wel long stap profet long kisim ples bilong yu. And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel–meholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.
Na em bai kamap olsem, long em husat i ranawe long bainat bilong Hasel, Jehu bai kilim i dai. Na em husat i ranawe long bainat bilong Jehu, Ilaisa bai kilim i dai. And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.
Yet Mi lusim bilong Mi 7,000 man long Isrel, olgeta skru bilong lek bilong husat i no bin lindaun long Beal, na olgeta wan wan maus bilong husat i no bin givim kis long em. Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.
¶ Olsem na em i go lusim dispela ples, na lukim Ilaisa, pikinini man bilong Safat, husat i wok long brukim graun wantaim twelpela yok bilong bulmakau man i go pas long em, na em i stap wantaim namba twelv. Na Ilaija i wokabaut klostu long em, na tromoi saket bilong em antap long em. So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.
Na em i lusim ol bulmakau man, na ran bihain long Ilaija, na tok, Larim mi, mi askim yu plis, givim kis long papa bilong mi na mama bilong mi, na nau mi bai bihainim yu. Na em i tokim em, Go bek gen. Long wanem, mi bin mekim wanem long yu? And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee?
Na em i go bek na lusim em, na kisim wanpela yok bilong ol bulmakau man, na kilim tupela i dai, na boilim mit bilong ol wantaim ol samting bilong mekim ol bulmakau man long wok, na givim abus long ol manmeri, na ol i bin kaikai. Nau em i kirap, na go bihainim Ilaija, na wokim wok long em. And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.
