| 2 | Long ol i bungim ol yet wantaim, long pait wantaim Josua na wantaim Isrel, wantaim pasin bilong wanpela bel. | That they gathered themselves together, to fight with Joshua and with Israel, with one accord. |

| 4 | Ol i bin wokim trik, na wokabaut na wokim olsem ol i bin stap ol mausman bilong narapela kantri, na kisim ol olpela bek antap long ol donki bilong ol, na ol botol wain, olpela, na bruk, na pas gut, | They did work wilily, and went and made as if they had been ambassadors, and took old sacks upon their asses, and wine bottles, old, and rent, and bound up; |

Long wanem, mipela i bin harim long biknem tru bilong Em, na olgeta samting Em i mekim long Isip, | And they said unto him, From a very far country thy servants are come because of the name of the Lord thy God: for we have heard the fame of him, and all that he did in Egypt, |
| 10 | Na olgeta samting Em i mekim long tupela king bilong Amor, husat i stap long hapsait bilong Jordan, long Saihon, king bilong Hesbon, na long Ok, king bilong Basan, husat i stap long Astarot. | And all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which was at Ashtaroth. |

| 14 | Na ol man i kisim bilong ol kaikai bilong ol, na ol i no askim tok helpim long maus bilong BIKPELA. | And the men took of their victuals, and asked not counsel at the mouth of the Lord. |
| 15 | ¶ Na Josua i wokim pasin bilong bel isi wantaim ol, na wokim wanpela kontrak bilong bel isi wantaim ol, long larim ol i stap laip. Na ol hetman bilong bung bilong ol manmeri i wokim strongpela promis i go long ol. | And Joshua made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live: and the princes of the congregation sware unto them. |
| 16 | Na em i kamap olsem long pinis bilong tripela de bihain long ol i bin wokim wanpela kontrak bilong bel isi wantaim ol, long ol i harim long ol i ol man i stap klostu long ol, na long ol i stap namel long ol. | And it came to pass at the end of three days after they had made a league with them, that they heard that they were their neighbours, and that they dwelt among them. |

Nau ol biktaun bilong ol em Gibion, na Kefira, na Berot, na Kiriat-jerim. | And the children of Israel journeyed, and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities were Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kirjath–jearim. |

Na olgeta bilong bung bilong ol manmeri i tok baksait i birua long ol hetman. | And the children of Israel smote them not, because the princes of the congregation had sworn unto them by the Lord God of Israel. And all the congregation murmured against the princes. |

Olsem na nau mipela i no inap tasim ol. | But all the princes said unto all the congregation, We have sworn unto them by the Lord God of Israel: now therefore we may not touch them. |
| 20 | Yumi bai mekim dispela long ol, yes, yumi bai larim ol i stap laip, nogut belhat tru i stap antap long yumi, bilong tingim dispela strongpela promis mipela i wokim i go long ol. | This we will do to them; we will even let them live, lest wrath be upon us, because of the oath which we sware unto them. |
| 21 | Na ol hetman i tokim ol, Larim ol i stap laip. Tasol larim ol i stap ol lain bilong katim paiawut na ol lain bilong pulimapim wara i go long olgeta bung bilong ol manmeri, olsem ol hetman i bin promisim ol. | And the princes said unto them, Let them live; but let them be hewers of wood and drawers of water unto all the congregation; as the princes had promised them. |
| 22 | ¶ Na Josua i singautim ol, na tokim ol, i spik, Olsem wanem na yupela i bin trikim mipela, i spik, Mipela i bilong wanpela ples i longwe tru long yupela, taim yupela i stap namel long mipela? | And Joshua called for them, and he spake unto them, saying, Wherefore have ye beguiled us, saying, We are very far from you; when ye dwell among us? |

Olsem na mipela i pret tru long ol laip bilong mipela taim mipela i tingim yupela, na mipela i bin mekim dispela samting. | And they answered Joshua, and said, Because it was certainly told thy servants, how that the Lord thy God commanded his servant Moses to give you all the land, and to destroy all the inhabitants of the land from before you, therefore we were sore afraid of our lives because of you, and have done this thing. |

| 27 | Na Josua i mekim ol i kamap long dispela de ol lain bilong katim paiawut na ol lain bilong pulimapim wara bilong bung bilong ol manmeri, na bilong alta bilong BIKPELA, yes, inap long tude, long dispela ples Em i laik makim. | And Joshua made them that day hewers of wood and drawers of water for the congregation, and for the altar of the Lord, even unto this day, in the place which he should choose. |
