Lukim, Mi bin givim i go long han bilong yu king bilong Eai, na ol lain manmeri bilong em, na biktaun bilong em, na graun bilong em. | And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land: |

Putim bilong yu wanpela lain bilong wet hait long biktaun baksait long en. | And thou shalt do to Ai and her king as thou didst unto Jericho and her king: only the spoil thereof, and the cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto yourselves: lay thee an ambush for the city behind it. |

Na Josua i makim i kam ausait 30,000 strongpela man bilong pait, na salim ol i go long nait. | So Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up against Ai: and Joshua chose out thirty thousand mighty men of valour, and sent them away by night. |

Na em bai kamap olsem, taim ol i kam ausait bilong birua long mipela, olsem ol i mekim pastaim, long mipela bai ranawe long ai bilong ol, | And I, and all the people that are with me, will approach unto the city: and it shall come to pass, when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will flee before them, |
| 6 | (Long wanem, ol bai kam ausait long bihainim mipela) inap long mipela i bin pulim ol i kam lusim biktaun. Long wanem, ol bai tok, Ol i ranawe long ai bilong yumi, olsem long pastaim. Olsem na mipela bai ranawe long ai bilong ol. | (For they will come out after us) till we have drawn them from the city; for they will say, They flee before us, as at the first: therefore we will flee before them. |
| 7 | Nau yupela bai kirap long ples bilong wet hait, na holimpas dispela biktaun. Long wanem, BIKPELA, God bilong yupela, bai givim dispela i go long han bilong yupela. | Then ye shall rise up from the ambush, and seize upon the city: for the Lord your God will deliver it into your hand. |
| 8 | Na em bai kamap, taim yupela i bin kisim biktaun, long yupela bai kirapim paia long biktaun. Bilong bihainim tok strong bilong BIKPELA bai yupela i mekim. Lukim, mi bin tok strong long yupela. | And it shall be, when ye have taken the city, that ye shall set the city on fire: according to the commandment of the Lord shall ye do. See, I have commanded you. |

Tasol Josua i slip long dispela nait namel long ol lain. | Joshua therefore sent them forth: and they went to lie in ambush, and abode between Beth–el and Ai, on the west side of Ai: but Joshua lodged that night among the people. |
| 10 | Na Josua i kirap long moning tru, na kaunim ol lain, na go antap, em na ol lapun hetman bilong Isrel, long ai bilong ol manmeri long Eai. | And Joshua rose up early in the morning, and numbered the people, and went up, he and the elders of Israel, before the people to Ai. |

Nau i gat wanpela ples daun namel long ol na Eai. | And all the people, even the people of war that were with him, went up, and drew nigh, and came before the city, and pitched on the north side of Ai: now there was a valley between them and Ai. |
| 12 | Na em i kisim klostu olsem 5,000 man, na putim ol long slip hait na wet hait namel long Betel na Eai, long hap wes sait bilong biktaun. | And he took about five thousand men, and set them to lie in ambush between Beth–el and Ai, on the west side of the city. |
| 13 | Na taim ol i bin putim ol lain, yes, olgeta ami husat i stap long hap not bilong biktaun, na ol lain bilong slip na wet hait long hap wes bilong biktaun, Josua i go long dispela nait long namel bilong ples daun. | And when they had set the people, even all the host that was on the north of the city, and their liers in wait on the west of the city, Joshua went that night into the midst of the valley. |
| 14 | Na em i kamap olsem, taim king bilong Eai i lukim dispela, long ol i hariap na kirap long moning tru, na ol man bilong biktaun i go ausait bilong birua long Isrel long pait, em na olgeta lain bilong em, long taim ol i makim, long ai bilong ples stret. Tasol em i no save long i gat ol lain bilong slip long ples bilong wet hait i birua long em baksait long biktaun. | And it came to pass, when the king of Ai saw it, that they hasted and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at a time appointed, before the plain; but he wist not that there were liers in ambush against him behind the city. |
| 15 | Na Josua na olgeta Isrel i mekim olsem ol i lus pinis long pait long ai bilong ol, na ranawe i go long rot bilong ples i no gat man. | And Joshua and all Israel made as if they were beaten before them, and fled by the way of the wilderness. |

Na ol i ran bihainim Josua, na ol i pulim ol i kam lusim biktaun. | And all the people that were in Ai were called together to pursue after them: and they pursued after Joshua, and were drawn away from the city. |
| 17 | Na i no gat wanpela man i stap yet insait long Eai o Betel, husat i no go ausait bilong bihainim Isrel. Na ol i lusim biktaun op i stap, na ran bihainim Isrel. | And there was not a man left in Ai or Beth–el, that went not out after Israel: and they left the city open, and pursued after Israel. |
| 18 | Na BIKPELA i tokim Josua, Stretim i go ausait dispela spia bilong tromoi i stap long han bilong yu i go long Eai. Long wanem, Mi bai givim dispela i go long han bilong yu. Na Josua i stretim i go ausait dispela spia bilong tromoi em i gat long han bilong em i go long biktaun. | And the Lord said unto Joshua, Stretch out the spear that is in thy hand toward Ai; for I will give it into thine hand. And Joshua stretched out the spear that he had in his hand toward the city. |
| 19 | Na ol lain bilong wet hait i kirap hariap i kam ausait long ples bilong ol, na ol i ran long taim stret long em i bin stretim i go ausait han bilong em. Na ol i go insait long biktaun, na kisim dispela, na hariap na kirapim paia long biktaun. | And the ambush arose quickly out of their place, and they ran as soon as he had stretched out his hand: and they entered into the city, and took it, and hasted and set the city on fire. |
| 20 | Na taim ol man bilong Eai i lukluk i go baksait long ol, ol i luksave, na, lukim, smuk bilong biktaun i go antap long heven, na ol i no gat strong long ranawe long dispela rot o long narapela rot. Na ol lain husat i ranawe pinis long ples i no gat man i tanim i go bek antap long ol lain i ran bihainim ol. | And when the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and, behold, the smoke of the city ascended up to heaven, and they had no power to flee this way or that way: and the people that fled to the wilderness turned back upon the pursuers. |
| 21 | Na taim Josua na olgeta Isrel i luksave long ol lain bilong wet hait i bin kisim biktaun pinis, na long smuk bilong biktaun i go antap, nau ol i tanim gen, na kilim i dai ol man bilong Eai. | And when Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had taken the city, and that the smoke of the city ascended, then they turned again, and slew the men of Ai. |
| 22 | Na ol arapela i ran i kam ausait long biktaun bilong birua long ol. Olsem na ol i stap namel long Isrel, sampela long dispela sait, na sampela long hapsait. Na ol i paitim ol, inap long ol i no larim wanpela bilong ol i stap yet o ranawe. | And the other issued out of the city against them; so they were in the midst of Israel, some on this side, and some on that side: and they smote them, so that they let none of them remain or escape. |
| 23 | ¶ Na king bilong Eai ol i kisim taim em i stap laip yet, na bringim em long Josua. | And the king of Ai they took alive, and brought him to Joshua. |
| 24 | Na em i kamap olsem, taim Isrel i bin wokim wanpela pinis bilong kilim i dai olgeta husat i stap long Eai long ples kunai, long ples i no gat man we ol i ranim ol i go long en, na taim ol i pundaun pinis long sap bilong bainat, inap long ol i kaikai ol olgeta, long olgeta lain Isrel i kam bek long Eai, na paitim dispela wantaim sap bilong bainat. | And it came to pass, when Israel had made an end of slaying all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness wherein they chased them, and when they were all fallen on the edge of the sword, until they were consumed, that all the Israelites returned unto Ai, and smote it with the edge of the sword. |

Na long taim stret long san i go daun pinis, Josua i tok strong long ol i mas kisim daibodi bilong em i kam daun long diwai, na tromoi dispela long ai bilong dua bilong banis bilong biktaun, na sanapim antap long en wanpela bikpela hip bilong ol ston, dispela i stap yet inap long tude. | And the king of Ai he hanged on a tree until eventide: and as soon as the sun was down, Joshua commanded that they should take his carcase down from the tree, and cast it at the entering of the gate of the city, and raise thereon a great heap of stones, that remaineth unto this day. |
| 30 | ¶ Nau Josua i wokim wanpela alta i go long God BIKPELA bilong Isrel long maunten Ebal, | Then Joshua built an altar unto the Lord God of Israel in mount Ebal, |

Na ol i ofaim ol ofa i kuk olgeta antap long en i go long BIKPELA, na wokim sakrifais bilong ol ofa bilong givim bel isi. | As Moses the servant of the Lord commanded the children of Israel, as it is written in the book of the law of Moses, an altar of whole stones, over which no man hath lift up any iron: and they offered thereon burnt offerings unto the Lord, and sacrificed peace offerings. |
| 32 | Na em i raitim antap long ol ston wanpela kopi bilong lo bilong Moses, dispela em i raitim long pes bilong ol pikinini bilong Isrel. | And he wrote there upon the stones a copy of the law of Moses, which he wrote in the presence of the children of Israel. |

Hap bilong ol i pas klostu long maunten Gerisim, na hap bilong ol i pas klostu long maunten Ebal , olsem Moses, wokboi bilong BIKPELA, i bin tok strong long ol bipo, long ol i mas blesim ol lain manmeri bilong Isrel. | And all Israel, and their elders, and officers, and their judges, stood on this side the ark and on that side before the priests the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord, as well the stranger, as he that was born among them; half of them over against mount Gerizim, and half of them over against mount Ebal; as Moses the servant of the Lord had commanded before, that they should bless the people of Israel. |

| 35 | I no gat wanpela hap tok bilong olgeta samting Moses i tok strong long en, long Josua i no ritim long ai bilong olgeta bung bilong ol manmeri bilong Isrel, wantaim ol meri, na ol liklik pikinini, na olgeta ausait man husat i save toktok wantaim ol namel long ol. | There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them. |
