| 1 | ¶ Nau ol profet, profet Hagai, na Sekaraia, pikinini man bilong Ido, i autim tok profet i go long ol Ju husat i stap long Juda na Jerusalem long nem bilong God bilong Isrel, yes, i go long ol. | Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them. |
| 2 | Nau Serubabel, pikinini man bilong Sealtiel, na Jesua, pikinini man bilong Josadak, i kirap na stat long wokim haus bilong God, dispela i stap long Jerusalem. Na wantaim ol em ol profet bilong God husat i helpim ol. | Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them. |
| 3 | ¶ Long dispela taim stret Tatnai, nambawan gavman long dispela sait long riva, na Setar-bosnai, na ol lain i save raun wantaim ol i kam long ol, na tok olsem long ol, Husat i bin tok strong long yupela long wokim dispela haus, na bilong stretim dispela banis? | At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shethar–boznai, and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall? |

| 5 | Tasol ai bilong God bilong ol i stap antap long ol lapun hetman bilong ol Ju, inap long ol i no inap long mekim ol long lusim wok, inap long dispela samting i kam long Darius. Na nau ol i bekim tok wantaim pas long sait bilong dispela samting. | But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, that they could not cause them to cease, till the matter came to Darius: and then they returned answer by letter concerning this matter. |

| 8 | Larim king i ken save long dispela, long mipela i go long provins bilong Judia, long haus bilong dispela bikpela God, dispela ol i wokim wantaim ol bikpela ston, na diwai ol i slipim pinis insait long ol banis, na dispela wok i go hariap tru, na kamap gutpela long han bilong ol. | Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands. |
| 9 | Nau mipela i askim ol dispela lapun hetman, na tokim ol olsem, Husat i tok strong long yupela long wokim dispela haus, na long stretim ol dispela banis? | Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls? |
| 10 | Mipela askim ol nem bilong ol tu, bilong strongim tok i go long yu, inap long mipela ken raitim ol nem bilong ol man husat i stap nambawan namel long ol. | We asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that were the chief of them. |
| 11 | Na ol i bekim tok i kam bek long mipela olsem, i spik, Mipela i stap ol wokboi bilong God bilong heven na dispela graun, na wokim dispela haus ol i wokim ol dispela planti yia i go pinis, dispela wanpela bikpela king bilong Isrel i wokim na sanapim. | And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many years ago, which a great king of Israel builded and set up. |
| 12 | Tasol bihain long ol tumbuna papa bilong mipela i bin skrapim bel bilong God bilong heven bilong belhat tru, Em i givim ol i go long han bilong Nebukatnesar, king bilong Babilon, man Kaldia, husat i bagarapim dispela haus olgeta, na karim ol manmeri i go long Babilon. | But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon. |
| 13 | Tasol long namba wan yia bilong Sairas, king bilong Babilon, dispela king Sairas stret i wokim wanpela strongpela tokaut bilong wokim dispela haus long God. | But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon the same king Cyrus made a decree to build this house of God. |
| 14 | Na ol sospen samting tu bilong gol na silva bilong haus bilong God, dispela Nebukatnesar i kisim i go ausait long dispela tempel i stap long Jerusalem, na bringim ol i go insait long tempel bilong Babilon, ol dispela king Sairas i bin kisim i kam ausait long tempel bilong Babilon, na ol i givim ol i go long wanpela man, husat nem bilong en em Sesbasar, husat em i bin makim nambawan gavman. | And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered unto one, whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor; |

Na i stat long dispela taim, yes, i kam inap long nau, ol i bin wokim dispela, na yet em i no pinis. | Then came the same Sheshbazzar, and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem: and since that time even until now hath it been in building, and yet it is not finished. |

Na larim king i salim amamas bilong em long mipela long sait bilong dispela samting. | Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in the king’s treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter. |
