¶ Ol brata bilong mi, no ken stap planti bikman, taim yumi save long yumi bai kisim bikpela pe nogut moa long kot. | My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
Long wanem, long planti samting yumi bagarapim bel bilong olgeta. Sapos wanpela man i no bagarapim bel wantaim toktok, dispela man stret em i inap tru, na inap tu long stiaim gut olgeta hap bilong bodi. | For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
Lukim, yumi putim ol ain insait long maus bilong ol hos, inap long ol i ken bihainim tok bilong yumi. Na yumi tanim nabaut olgeta hap bilong bodi bilong ol. | Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
Lukim tu ol sip, husat maski ol i stap bikpela olsem, na ol strongpela win i ranim ol i go, yet ol man i tanim ol nabaut wantaim wanpela liklik stia tru, long wanem hap we bosman i gat laik. | Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
Yes, olsem tasol tang em i wanpela liklik hap bilong bodi, na i tok hambak long ol bikpela samting. Lukim, liklik paia i ken kirapim wanpela kain bikpela samting moa! | Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
Na tang em i wanpela paia, wanpela samting i pulap tru long sin nogut. Tang em i olsem namel long ol hap bilong bodi bilong yumi, inap long em i mekim olgeta hap bilong bodi i doti, na kirapim paia long wok bilong pasin bilong dispela graun. Na hel i kirapim paia long en. | And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
Long wanem, olgeta wan wan kain bilong ol animal, na bilong ol pisin, na bilong ol snek, na bilong ol samting insait long biksi, man i ken mekim em sindaun isi, na man i bin mekim em sindaun isi. | For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
Tasol i no gat man i ken mekim tang long sindaun isi. Em i wanpela samting nogut man i no inap bosim gut, pulap long marasin nogut bilong mekim man i dai. | But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Wantaim dispela yumi blesim God, yes, Papa. Na wantaim dispela yumi tok nogutim ol man, husat em i wokim i bihainim samting i wankain olsem God. | Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
Ausait long wanpela maus stret blesing na tok nogut i kam. Ol brata bilong mi, em i no gutpela long ol dispela samting i stap olsem. | Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
Ating wanpela ai bilong wara i sut i salim i kam ausait wara i swit na wara i pait tru long wanpela ples stret? | Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
Diwai fik, ol brata bilong mi, i ken karim ol oliv beri? O wanpela diwai wain, ol fik? Olsem tasol ai bilong wara i sut i no inap givim wara i sol na i klin wantaim. | Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
¶ Husat em i saveman na i pulap wantaim save namel long yupela? Larim em soim, ausait long gutpela pasin bilong em, ol wok bilong em wantaim pasin bilong stap isi bilong save tru. | Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
Tasol sapos yupela i gat ol mangal tingting i gat pait tru na ol strongpela pait insait long ol bel bilong yupela, no ken glori long dispela, na no ken giaman i birua long tok tru. | But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
Dispela save tru i no kam daun long antap, tasol em i samting bilong dispela graun, em i samting bilong bihainim bodi, na em i samting bilong ol spirit nogut. | This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
Long wanem, we mangal tingting na strongpela pait i stap, i gat pasin paul i stap na olgeta wan wan wok nogut. | For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
Tasol dispela save tru i kam long antap em i klin pastaim, bihain i gat pasin bel isi, pasin isi, na em i isi long mekim strongpela askim long en, pulap long sori na gutpela kaikai, i no gat pasin bilong skelim kranki, na i no gat pasin bilong tupela maus. | But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
Na kaikai bilong stretpela pasin ol i planim long bel isi bilong ol husat i wokim bel isi. | And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
