¶ Ol brata bilong mi, no ken gat bilip tru bilong Bikpela bilong yumi Jisas Kraist, Bikpela bilong glori, wantaim pasin bilong tingim namba bilong ol man. | My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
Long wanem, sapos i gat i kam long bung bilong yupela wanpela man wantaim wanpela ring gol, long nambawan naispela klos, na i gat i kam insait tu wanpela rabisman wantaim klos nogut tru, | For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;
Na yupela i gat pasin bilong tingim namba long em husat i werim klos i gat amamas, na tokim em, Yu sindaun hia long gutpela ples, na tokim rabisman, Yu sanap long hap, o sindaun hia aninit long liklik sia bilong putim lek bilong mi, | And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:
Ating i yes long nau yupela i skelim kranki long yupela yet, na yupela i kamap ol jas bilong ol tingting nogut? | Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
Harim, ol brata i stap klostu tru long bel bilong mi, Ating i yes long God i bin makim ol rabisman bilong dispela graun ol maniman long bilip tru, na ol pikinini i kisim kingdom long papa, dispela em i bin promisim long ol husat i laikim em tru? | Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
Tasol yupela i bin tingim ol rabisman olsem ol i samting nating. Ating i yes long ol maniman i givim hevi long yupela, na pulim yupela i go long ai bilong ol sia bilong kot? | But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
Ating i yes long ol i tok bilas long dispela nem i gat namba, dispela ol i kolim yupela long en? | Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
¶ Sapos yupela inapim dispela lo bilong king bilong bihainim rait bilong God, Yu bai laikim tru man i stap klostu long yu olsem yu laikim yu yet, yupela i mekim gutpela samting. | If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
Tasol sapos yupela i gat pasin bilong tingim namba long ol man, yupela i mekim sin, na lo i soim tru tru olsem yupela i ol man bilong kalapim lo. | But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
Long wanem, husat man bai bihainim lo olgeta, na yet em i bagarapim long wanpela poin, em i gat asua long olgeta. | For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Long wanem, em husat i tok, No ken bagarapim marit long pamuk pasin, i tok tu, No ken kilim man. Nau sapos yu no bagarapim marit long pamuk pasin, tasol sapos yu kilim man, yu bin kamap man bilong kalapim lo. | For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
Yupela i mas toktok olsem, na mekim olsem, olsem ol husat lo bilong stap fri bai jasim. | So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
Long wanem, em bai gat kot i no gat sori, husat i no bin soim sori. Na sori i wokim amamas tru i birua long kot. | For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
¶ Dispela save i gat wanem helpim, ol brata bilong mi, sapos wanpela man i tok em i gat bilip tru, na em i no gat ol wok? Bilip tru i ken kisim bek em? | What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
Sapos wanpela brata o susa i stap skin nating, na i no gat kaikai olgeta bilong wan wan de, | If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Na wanpela bilong yupela i tokim ol, Go wantaim bel isi, yupela hatim skin na stap pulap, tasol yupela i no givim ol ol dispela samting, dispela ol bodi bilong ol i gat nid long en, em bai gat wanem helpim? | And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Yes, olsem tasol bilip tru, sapos i no gat ol wok, i dai pinis, taim em i stap wanpis. | Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Yes, wanpela man i ken tok, Yu gat bilip tru, na mi gat ol wok. Soim mi bilip tru bilong yu i no gat ol wok bilong yu, na mi bai soim yu bilip tru bilong mi wantaim ol wok bilong mi. | Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
Yu bilip long i gat wanpela God tasol i stap, yu mekim gutpela samting. Ol spirit nogut tu i bilip olsem, na guria. | Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
Tasol inap yu save, O man nating, long bilip tru i no gat ol wok i dai pinis? | But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
Ating i yes long Ebraham, papa bilong yumi, i kamap stretpela long ol wok, taim em i bin ofaim pikinini man bilong em Aisak long alta? | Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
Yu luksave long bilip tru i wok wantaim ol wok bilong em olsem wanem, na long ol wok, bilip tru i kamap inap tru? | Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
Na dispela i inapim rait bilong God, dispela i tok, Ebraham i bilipim God, na God i makim dispela long em long stretpela pasin. Na God i kolim em Pren bilong God. | And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
Yupela luksave nau olsem long ol wok wanpela man i kamap stretpela, na i no long bilip tru tasol. | Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
Wankain olsem tu ating i yes long pamuk meri Rehap i kamap stretpela long ol wok, taim em i bin kisim ol mausman, na em i bin salim ol ausait long narapela rot? | Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
Long wanem, olsem bodi i no gat spirit i dai pinis, olsem tasol bilip tru i no gat ol wok i dai pinis tu. | For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
