| 2 | Taim ol i bin salim i go long haus bilong God Sereser na Regem-melek, na ol man bilong ol, bilong beten long ai bilong BIKPELA, | When they had sent unto the house of God Sherezer and Regem–melech, and their men, to pray before the Lord, |
| 3 | Na bilong toktok i go long ol pris husat i stap insait long haus bilong BIKPELA bilong ol ami, na long ol profet, i spik, Ating mi mas krai tru long namba faiv mun, na brukim mi yet long ol, olsem mi bin mekim ol dispela planti yia? | And to speak unto the priests which were in the house of the Lord of hosts, and to the prophets, saying, Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years? |

| 5 | Toktok i go long olgeta lain manmeri bilong dispela hap, na long ol pris, i spik, Taim yupela i tambuim kaikai na soim sori long namba faiv na namba seven mun, yes, dispela 70 yia, ating yupela bin tambuim kaikai liklik i kam long Mi, yes, long Mi? | Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me? |
| 6 | Na taim yupela i bin kaikai, na taim yupela i bin dring, ating i yes long yupela i bin kaikai bilong tingim yupela yet, na dring bilong tingim yupela yet? | And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves? |
| 7 | Ating i yes long yupela i mas harim ol dispela toktok BIKPELA i bin singaut long maus bilong ol profet bipo, taim Jerusalem i gat ol man i stap na i stap gutpela, na ol biktaun bilong en raun nabaut long en, taim ol man i stap long hap saut na long ples stret? | Should ye not hear the words which the Lord hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain? |

| 10 | Na yupela i no ken mekim meri man bilong em i dai pinis long kisim taim, o pikinini i no gat papa, ausait man, o rabisman. Na no ken larim wanpela bilong yupela tingting nating nogut i birua long brata bilong em insait long bel bilong yupela. | And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart. |
| 11 | Tasol ol i tok nogat long harim, na ol i pulim i go sol bilong han, na pasim ol ia bilong ol, inap long ol i no ken harim. | But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. |
| 12 | Yes, ol i mekim ol bel bilong ol olsem wanpela ston adamant, nogut ol i ken harim lo, na ol dispela toktok BIKPELA bilong ol ami i bin salim insait long Spirit bilong Em long maus bilong ol profet bipo. Olsem na wanpela bikpela belhat tru i kam long BIKPELA bilong ol ami. | Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the Lord of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the Lord of hosts. |
| 13 | Olsem na em i kamap olsem, long olsem Em i singaut, na ol i no gat laik long harim, olsem tasol ol i singaut, na Mi no gat laik long harim, BIKPELA bilong ol ami i tok. | Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the Lord of hosts: |

Olsem tasol dispela hap em i stap nating bihain long ol, inap long i no gat man i wokabaut namel o go bek. Long wanem, ol i mekim dispela gutpela hap i stap nating. | But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate. |
