¶ Nau dispela em ol kantri husat BIKPELA i lusim i stap, long pruvim Isrel wantaim ol, yes, olgeta bilong Isrel husat i no bin save long ol bikpela pait bilong Kenan. | Now these are the nations which the Lord left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of Canaan;
Inap long ol lain tumbuna bilong ol pikinini bilong Isrel i ken save tasol, long skulim ol long bikpela pait, yes, long ol kain lain husat i no save long en liklik bipo. | Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;
Em i olsem, faipela bikman bilong ol Filistin, na olgeta lain Kenan, na ol lain Saidon, na ol lain Hiv husat i stap long maunten Lebanon, i stat long maunten Beal-hermon i go inap long hap i go insait long Hemat. | Namely, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baal–hermon unto the entering in of Hamath.
Na ol i stap long pruvim Isrel wantaim ol, long save sapos ol i gat laik long harim long ol tok strong bilong BIKPELA, dispela Em i tok strong long ol tumbuna papa bilong ol long han bilong Moses, o nogat. | And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the Lord, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
Na ol pikinini bilong Isrel i stap namel long ol lain Kenan, ol lain Hit, na ol lain Amor, na ol lain Peris, na ol lain Hiv, na ol lain Jebus. | And the children of Israel dwelt among the Canaanites, Hittites, and Amorites, and Perizzites, and Hivites, and Jebusites:
Na ol i kisim ol pikinini meri bilong ol long kamap ol meri bilong ol, na givim ol pikinini meri bilong ol long ol pikinini man bilong ol, na bihainim ol god bilong ol. | And they took their daughters to be their wives, and gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.
Na ol pikinini bilong Isrel i mekim pasin nogut long ai bilong BIKPELA, na lusim tingting long BIKPELA, God bilong ol, na bihainim Bealim na ol lain diwai. | And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and forgat the Lord their God, and served Baalim and the groves.
¶ Olsem na belhat bilong BIKPELA em i hat i birua long Isrel, na Em i salim ol olsem kago i go long han bilong Kusan-risataim, king bilong Mesopotemia. Na ol pikinini bilong Isrel i wokim wok wokboi bilong Kusan-risataim etpela yia. | Therefore the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan–rishathaim king of Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushan–rishathaim eight years.
Na taim ol pikinini bilong Isrel i krai long BIKPELA, BIKPELA i kirapim wanpela man bilong kisim bek long ol pikinini bilong Isrel, husat i kisim bek ol, yes, Otniel, pikinini man bilong Kenas, liklik brata bilong Kelep. | And when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother.
Na Spirit bilong BIKPELA i kam antap long em, na em i jasim Isrel, na go ausait long bikpela pait. Na BIKPELA i givim Kusan-risataim, king bilong Mesopotemia, i go long han bilong em. Na han bilong em i winim Kusan-risataim. | And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the Lord delivered Chushan–rishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushan–rishathaim.
Na dispela hap i gat malolo 40 yia. Na Otniel, pikinini man bilong Kenas, i dai pinis. | And the land had rest forty years. And Othniel the son of Kenaz died.
¶ Na ol pikinini bilong Isrel i mekim pasin nogut gen long ai bilong BIKPELA. Na BIKPELA i strongim Eklon, king bilong Moap, i birua long Isrel, bilong wanem, ol i bin mekim pasin nogut long ai bilong BIKPELA. | And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord: and the Lord strengthened Eglon the king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil in the sight of the Lord.
Na em i bungim i kam long em ol pikinini bilong Amon na Amalek, na go na paitim Isrel, na holimpas dispela biktaun bilong ol diwai palmen. | And he gathered unto him the children of Ammon and Amalek, and went and smote Israel, and possessed the city of palm trees.
Olsem na ol pikinini bilong Isrel i wokim wok wokboi bilong Eklon, king bilong Moap, 18 yia. | So the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years.
Tasol taim ol pikinini bilong Isrel i krai long BIKPELA, BIKPELA i kirapim long ol wanpela man bilong kisim bek, Ihut, pikinini man bilong Gera, wanpela man Benjamin, wanpela han kais man. Na long em ol pikinini man bilong Isrel i salim wanpela presen long Eklon, king bilong Moap. | But when the children of Israel cried unto the Lord, the Lord raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab.
Tasol Ihut i wokim bilong em wanpela liklik naip, dispela i gat tupela sap, longpela bilong en em wanpela kyubit. Na em i bin pasim dispela aninit long klos bilong em antap long han sut lek bilong em. | But Ehud made him a dagger which had two edges, of a cubit length; and he did gird it under his raiment upon his right thigh.
Na em i bringim presen i go long Eklon, king bilong Moap. Na Eklon em i wanpela patpela man tru. | And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man.
Na taim em i bin wokim wanpela pinis long givim presen, em i salim ol manmeri i go husat i karim presen. | And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present.
Tasol em em yet i tanim gen i lusim ol ples bilong stretim ston, dispela i stap klostu long Gilgal, na tok, Mi gat wanpela wok hait i go long yu, O king, husat i tok, Pasim maus. Na olgeta husat i sanap klostu long em i go ausait na lusim em. | But he himself turned again from the quarries that were by Gilgal, and said, I have a secret errand unto thee, O king: who said, Keep silence. And all that stood by him went out from him.
Na Ihut i kam long em. Na em i sindaun long wanpela rum bilong taim bilong biksan, dispela em i gat bilong em yet wanpela. Na Ihut i tok, Mi gat wanpela toksave i kam long God i go long yu. Na em i kirap lusim sia bilong em. | And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat.
Na Ihut i putim i go ausait han kais bilong em, na kisim dispela liklik naip i kam long han sut lek bilong em, na sutim dispela i go insait long bel bilong em. | And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly:
Na as bilong en tu i go insait bihain long sap bilong en. Na gris i go pas antap long naip, inap long em i no inap long kamautim liklik naip i kam ausait long bel bilong em. Na ol doti i kam ausait. | And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out.
Nau Ihut i go ausait namel long veranda, na pasim ol dua bilong rum long em, na lokim ol. | Then Ehud went forth through the porch, and shut the doors of the parlour upon him, and locked them.
Taim em i go ausait, ol wokboi i kam. Na taim ol i luksave olsem, lukim, ol dua bilong rum i lok pinis, ol i tok, Tru tumas, em i karamapim tupela lek bilong em long rum bilong taim bilong biksan. | When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlour were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber.
Na ol i stap yet inap long taim ol i sem. Na, lukim, em i no opim ol dua bilong rum. Olsem na ol i kisim wanpela ki, na opim ol. Na, lukim, bikman bilong ol em i pundaun i dai pinis long graun. | And they tarried till they were ashamed: and, behold, he opened not the doors of the parlour; therefore they took a key, and opened them: and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead on the earth.
Na Ihut i ranawe taim ol i stap yet, na abrusim hap hapsait long ples bilong stretim ston, na ranawe i go long Sirat. | And Ehud escaped while they tarried, and passed beyond the quarries, and escaped unto Seirath.
Na em i kamap olsem, taim em i kam pinis, long em i winim wanpela biugel long maunten bilong Ifraim, na ol pikinini bilong Isrel i go daun wantaim em i lusim maunten, na em i go paslain long ol. | And it came to pass, when he was come, that he blew a trumpet in the mountain of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went down with him from the mount, and he before them.
Na em i tokim ol, Bihainim mi. Long wanem, BIKPELA i bin givim ol birua bilong yu, ol lain Moap, i go long han bilong yu. Na ol i go daun bihain long em, na kisim ol ples bilong brukim wara bilong Jordan i go long Moap, na ol i no larim wanpela man long go hapsait. | And he said unto them, Follow after me: for the Lord hath delivered your enemies the Moabites into your hand. And they went down after him, and took the fords of Jordan toward Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.
Na ol i kilim i dai bilong Moap long dispela taim klostu olsem 10,000 man, olgeta i strongpela, na olgeta i strongpela bilong pait. Na i no gat wanpela man i ranawe. | And they slew of Moab at that time about ten thousand men, all lusty, and all men of valour; and there escaped not a man.
Olsem na Moap i stap aninit long han bilong Isrel long dispela de. Na dispela hap i gat malolo 80 yia. | So Moab was subdued that day under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest fourscore years.
¶ Na bihain long em em Samgar, pikinini man bilong Anat, husat i kilim i dai bilong ol Filistin 600 man wantaim stik bilong stiaim bulmakau man. Na em tu i kisim bek Isrel. | And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel.
