Tasol em i no tokim papa bilong em. Now it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that is on the other side. But he told not his father.
Na Sol i stap yet long las hap bilong Gibia aninit long wanpela diwai pomigranet, dispela i stap long Migron. Na ol lain husat i stap wantaim em i klostu olsem 600 man, And Saul tarried in the uttermost part of Gibeah under a pomegranate tree which is in Migron: and the people that were with him were about six hundred men;
Na Ahaia, pikinini man bilong Ahitup, brata bilong Ikabot, pikinini man bilong Finias, pikinini man bilong Ilai, pris bilong BIKPELA long Sailo, husat i werim wanpela ifat. Na ol lain i no save long Jonatan i lusim ol. And Ahiah, the son of Ahitub, I–chabod’s brother, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the Lord’s priest in Shiloh, wearing an ephod. And between the passages, by which Jonathan sought to go over unto the Philistines’ garrison, there was a sharp rock on the one side, and a sharp rock on the other side: and the name of the one was Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.
Pes bilong wanpela i lukluk i go long hap not i pas klostu long Mikmas, na arapela i lukluk i go long hap saut i pas klostu long Gibia. The forefront of the one was situate northward over against Michmash, and the other southward over against Gibeah.

Em i ken kamap long BIKPELA bai mekim wok long sait bilong yumi. Long wanem, i no gat wanpela samting long pasim BIKPELA long kisim bek wantaim planti lain o liklik lain. And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the Lord will work for us: for there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few.
Na man bilong karim klos pait bilong em i tokim em, Mekim olgeta samting i stap insait long bel bilong yu. Tanim yu. Lukim, Mi stap wantaim yu bilong bihainim bel bilong yu. And his armourbearer said unto him, Do all that is in thine heart: turn thee; behold, I am with thee according to thy heart.
Nau Jonatan i tok, Lukim, yumi bai go hapsait i go long ol dispela man, na yumi bai soim yumi yet ples klia long ol. Then said Jonathan, Behold, we will pass over unto these men, and we will discover ourselves unto them.
Sapos ol tok olsem long yumi, Stap yet inap long mipela i kam long yutupela, orait yumi bai sanap i stap long ples bilong yumi, na yumi bai i no inap go long ol. If they say thus unto us, Tarry until we come to you; then we will stand still in our place, and will not go up unto them.
Tasol sapos ol i tok olsem, Yutupela kam long mipela, orait yumi bai go long ol. Long wanem, BIKPELA i bin givim ol long han bilong yumi. Na dispela bai stap wanpela mak long yumi. But if they say thus, Come up unto us; then we will go up: for the Lord hath delivered them into our hand: and this shall be a sign unto us.
Na tupela wantaim bilong ol i soim ol yet ples klia long lain soldia bilong ol Filistin. Na ol Filistin i tok, Lukim, ol Hibru i kam ausait long ol hul we ol i bin haitim ol yet. And both of them discovered themselves unto the garrison of the Philistines: and the Philistines said, Behold, the Hebrews come forth out of the holes where they had hid themselves.
Na ol man bilong lain soldia i bekim Jonatan na man bilong karim klos pait bilong em, na tok, Kam antap long mipela, na mipela bai soim yutupela wanpela samting. Na Jonatan i tokim man bilong karim klos pait bilong em, Kam antap bihain long mi. Long wanem, BIKPELA i bin givim ol long han bilong Isrel. And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armourbearer, and said, Come up to us, and we will shew you a thing. And Jonathan said unto his armourbearer, Come up after me: for the Lord hath delivered them into the hand of Israel.
Na Jonatan i kalap i go antap long ol han bilong em na long ol lek bilong em, na man bilong karim klos pait bilong em i bihainim em. Na ol man i pundaun long ai bilong Jonatan. Na man bilong karim klos pait bilong em i kam bihain long em na kilim ol i dai. And Jonathan climbed up upon his hands and upon his feet, and his armourbearer after him: and they fell before Jonathan; and his armourbearer slew after him.
Na dispela namba wan bikpela kilim i dai, dispela Jonatan na man bilong karim klos pait bilong em i mekim, em i klostu olsem 20 man, insait long samting olsem wanpela namba tu hap eker graun, dispela wanpela yok bulmakau man i ken brukim. And that first slaughter, which Jonathan and his armourbearer made, was about twenty men, within as it were an half acre of land, which a yoke of oxen might plow.
Na i gat pasin guria insait long ami, long ples kunai, na namel long olgeta manmeri. Dispela lain soldia, na ol lain bilong kisim kago bilong pait, ol tu i guria, na graun i guria. Olsem tasol dispela em i wanpela bikpela guria tru. And there was trembling in the host, in the field, and among all the people: the garrison, and the spoilers, they also trembled, and the earth quaked: so it was a very great trembling.
¶ Na ol wasman bilong Sol long Gibia bilong Benjamin i lukluk. Na, lukim, dispela bikpela lain tru i ran olsem wara i go, na ol i go yet long paitim i go daun wanpela i go long narapela. And the watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked; and, behold, the multitude melted away, and they went on beating down one another.
Nau Sol i tokim ol lain husat i stap wantaim em, Kaunim nau, na luksave husat i go lusim yumi. Na taim ol i bin kaunim, lukim, Jonatan na man bilong karim klos pait bilong em i no stap long dispela hap. Then said Saul unto the people that were with him, Number now, and see who is gone from us. And when they had numbered, behold, Jonathan and his armourbearer were not there.
Na Sol i tokim Ahaia, Bringim long hia dispela bokis kontrak bilong God. Long wanem, bokis kontrak bilong God i stap wantaim ol pikinini bilong Isrel long dispela taim. And Saul said unto Ahiah, Bring hither the ark of God. For the ark of God was at that time with the children of Israel.
Na em i kamap olsem, taim Sol i toktok long pris, long dispela nois i stap long ami bilong ol Filistin i wok long go yet na kamap bikpela. Na Sol i tokim pris, Surikim han bilong yu. And it came to pass, while Saul talked unto the priest, that the noise that was in the host of the Philistines went on and increased: and Saul said unto the priest, Withdraw thine hand.
Na Sol na olgeta manmeri husat i stap wantaim em i bungim ol yet, na ol i kam long pait. Na, lukim, bainat bilong olgeta wan wan man i birua long poroman bilong em, na i gat bikpela bagarap tru i kamap long ol Filistin. And Saul and all the people that were with him assembled themselves, and they came to the battle: and, behold, every man’s sword was against his fellow, and there was a very great discomfiture.
Na moa tu ol lain Hibru husat i stap wantaim ol Filistin bipo long dispela taim, husat i bin go antap wantaim ol long kem long ol hap raun nabaut, yes, ol tu i tanim bilong stap wantaim ol lain Isrel husat i stap wantaim Sol na Jonatan. Moreover the Hebrews that were with the Philistines before that time, which went up with them into the camp from the country round about, even they also turned to be with the Israelites that were with Saul and Jonathan.
Na wankain olsem, olgeta man bilong Isrel husat i bin haitim ol yet long maunten Ifraim, taim ol i harim long ol Filistin i ranawe, yes, ol tu i ran bihainim ol strong long pait. Likewise all the men of Israel which had hid themselves in mount Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle.
Olsem tasol BIKPELA i kisim bek Isrel long dispela de. Na dispela pait i go hapsait i go long Bet-aven. So the Lord saved Israel that day: and the battle passed over unto Beth–aven.
¶ Na ol man bilong Isrel i pilim bikpela wari long dispela de. Long wanem, Sol i bin tok strong long ol lain, i spik, Tok nogut i stap antap long man husat i kaikai long wanpela hap kaikai inap long apinun tru, inap long mi ken bekim pe nogut long ol birua bilong mi. Olsem na i no gat wanpela bilong ol lain husat i testim wanpela hap kaikai. And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.
Na olgeta bilong dispela hap i kamap long wanpela ples diwai. Na i gat hani i stap antap long graun. And all they of the land came to a wood; and there was honey upon the ground.
Na taim ol lain i kam long ples diwai, lukim, hani i go daun. Tasol i no gat wanpela man i putim han bilong em long maus bilong em. Long wanem, ol lain i pretim dispela strongpela promis. And when the people were come into the wood, behold, the honey dropped; but no man put his hand to his mouth: for the people feared the oath.
Tasol Jonatan i no harim taim papa bilong em i givim tok long ol lain wantaim dispela strongpela promis. Olsem na em i putim i go ausait arere bilong dispela stik i stap long han bilong em, na putim dispela liklik insait long wanpela kom bilong hani, na putim han bilong em long maus bilong em. Na tupela ai bilong em i kisim lait. But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath: wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in an honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.
Nau wanpela bilong ol lain i bekim, na tok, Papa bilong yu i givim tok stret long ol lain wantaim wanpela strongpela promis, i spik, Tok nogut i stap antap long man husat i kaikai long wanpela hap kaikai tude. Na olgeta lain i laik hap i dai. Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father straitly charged the people with an oath, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food this day. And the people were faint.
Nau Jonatan i tok, Papa bilong mi i bin givim trabel long dispela hap. Luksave, mi askim yu plis, long tupela ai bilong mi i bin kisim lait olsem wanem, bilong wanem, mi testim liklik long dispela hani. Then said Jonathan, My father hath troubled the land: see, I pray you, how mine eyes have been enlightened, because I tasted a little of this honey.
Na hamas moa, sapos i bin kamap long ol lain i bin kaikai long laik bilong ol tude long ol kago bilong pait bilong ol birua bilong ol, dispela ol i lukim? Long wanem, ating i yes long nau bikpela kilim i dai moa i bin kamap namel long ol Filistin? How much more, if haply the people had eaten freely to day of the spoil of their enemies which they found? for had there not been now a much greater slaughter among the Philistines?
Na ol i paitim ol Filistin long dispela de long Mikmas i go long Aisalon. Na olgeta lain i laik hap i dai tru. And they smote the Philistines that day from Michmash to Aijalon: and the people were very faint.
Na ol manmeri i flai i go antap long kago bilong pait, na kisim ol sipsip, na ol bulmakau man, na ol pikinini bulmakau, na kilim ol i dai long graun. Na ol manmeri i bin kaikai ol wantaim blut. And the people flew upon the spoil, and took sheep, and oxen, and calves, and slew them on the ground: and the people did eat them with the blood.
Nau ol i tokim Sol, i spik, Lukim, ol manmeri i mekim sin i birua long BIKPELA, long, ol i kaikai wantaim blut. Na em i tok, Yupela bin kalapim lo. Tantanim wanpela bikpela ston i kam long mi tude. Then they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sin against the Lord, in that they eat with the blood. And he said, Ye have transgressed: roll a great stone unto me this day.
Na Sol i tok, Brukim yupela yet namel long ol lain, na tokim ol, Bringim i kam long mi hia olgeta wan wan man bulmakau man bilong em, na olgeta wan wan man sipsip bilong em, na kilim ol i dai hia, na kaikai. Na no ken mekim sin i birua long BIKPELA, long sait bilong kaikai wantaim blut. Na olgeta lain i bringim olgeta wan wan man bulmakau man bilong em wantaim em long dispela nait, na kilim ol i dai long dispela hap. And Saul said, Disperse yourselves among the people, and say unto them, Bring me hither every man his ox, and every man his sheep, and slay them here, and eat; and sin not against the Lord in eating with the blood. And all the people brought every man his ox with him that night, and slew them there.
Na Sol i wokim alta i go long BIKPELA. Dispela alta stret em i namba wan alta long em i wokim long BIKPELA. And Saul built an altar unto the Lord: the same was the first altar that he built unto the Lord.
¶ Na Sol i tok, Yumi go daun na bihainim ol Filistin long nait, na kisim ol kago bilong pait long ol inap long lait bilong moning, na yumi no ken larim wanpela man bilong ol i stap. Na ol i tok, Mekim wanem samting i luk olsem i gutpela long ai bilong yu. Nau pris i tok, Yumi go klostu hia long God. And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and spoil them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. Then said the priest, Let us draw near hither unto God.
Na Sol i askim tok helpim long God, Bai mi go daun na bihainim ol Filistin? Bai Yu givim ol long han bilong Isrel? Tasol Em i no bekim tok long em long dispela de. And Saul asked counsel of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into the hand of Israel? But he answered him not that day.
Na Sol i tok, Yupela kam klostu long hia, olgeta nambawan bilong ol manmeri. Na yumi bai save na luksave long dispela sin i bin stap insait long wanem samting tude. And Saul said, Draw ye near hither, all the chief of the people: and know and see wherein this sin hath been this day.
Long wanem, olsem BIKPELA i stap laip, husat i kisim bek Isrel, maski em i stap insait long pikinini man bilong mi Jonatan, tru tumas, em bai dai. Tasol i no gat wanpela man namel long olgeta lain husat i bekim tok long em. For, as the Lord liveth, which saveth Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him.
Nau em i tokim olgeta Isrel, Yupela stap long wanpela sait, na mi na pikinini man bilong mi Jonatan bai stap long arapela sait. Na ol manmeri i tokim Sol, Mekim wanem samting i luk olsem i gutpela long ai bilong yu. Then said he unto all Israel, Be ye on one side, and I and Jonathan my son will be on the other side. And the people said unto Saul, Do what seemeth good unto thee.
Olsem na Sol i tokim God BIKPELA bilong Isrel , Givim satu i inap tru . Na satu i makim Sol na Jonatan. Tasol olgeta manmeri i abrusim bagarap. Therefore Saul said unto the Lord God of Israel, Give a perfect lot. And Saul and Jonathan were taken: but the people escaped.
Na Sol i tok, Tromoi satu namel long mi na pikinini man bilong mi Jonatan. Na satu i makim Jonatan. And Saul said, Cast lots between me and Jonathan my son. And Jonathan was taken.
Nau Sol i tokim Jonatan, Tokim mi long yu bin mekim wanem samting. Na Jonatan i stori long em, na tok, Mi bin testim liklik hap hani tasol wantaim arere bilong dispela stik i stap long han bilong mi, na, harim, mi mas dai. Then Saul said to Jonathan, Tell me what thou hast done. And Jonathan told him, and said, I did but taste a little honey with the end of the rod that was in mine hand, and, lo, I must die.
Na Sol i bekim tok, God i mekim olsem na moa tu. Long wanem, tru tumas Jonatan, yu bai dai. And Saul answered, God do so and more also: for thou shalt surely die, Jonathan.
Na ol manmeri i tokim Sol, Jonatan bai dai, husat i bin wokim dispela bikpela kisim bek insait long Isrel? I no ken tru. Olsem BIKPELA i stap laip, bai i no gat wanpela hap gras bilong het bilong em bai pundaun long graun. Long wanem, em i bin wok wantaim God tude. Olsem tasol ol lain i kisim bek Jonatan, inap long em i no dai. And the people said unto Saul, Shall Jonathan die, who hath wrought this great salvation in Israel? God forbid: as the Lord liveth, there shall not one hair of his head fall to the ground; for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people rescued Jonathan, that he died not.
Nau Sol i go antap na lusim wok bilong bihainim ol Filistin. Na ol Filistin i go long ples bilong ol yet. Then Saul went up from following the Philistines: and the Philistines went to their own place.
¶ Olsem tasol Sol i kisim kingdom long bosim Isrel, na pait birua long olgeta birua bilong em long olgeta wan wan sait, em i birua long Moap, na birua long ol pikinini bilong Amon, na birua long Idom, na birua long ol king bilong Soba, na birua long ol Filistin. Na long wanem hap em i tanim em yet, em i givim hevi long ol. So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them.
Na em i bungim wanpela ami, na paitim ol lain Amalek, na kisim bek Isrel ausait long ol han bilong ol husat i kisim ol kago bilong pait long ol. And he gathered an host, and smote the Amalekites, and delivered Israel out of the hands of them that spoiled them.
Nau ol pikinini man bilong Sol em Jonatan, na Isui, na Melkisua. Na ol nem bilong tupela pikinini meri bilong em em i olsem, nem bilong namba wan pikinini em Merap, na nem bilong liklik em Mikal. Now the sons of Saul were Jonathan, and Ishui, and Melchi–shua: and the names of his two daughters were these; the name of the firstborn Merab, and the name of the younger Michal:
Na nem bilong meri bilong Sol em Ahinoam, pikinini meri bilong Ahimeas. Na nem bilong kepten bilong ami bilong em em Apner, pikinini man bilong Ner, smolpapa bilong Sol. And the name of Saul’s wife was Ahinoam, the daughter of Ahimaaz: and the name of the captain of his host was Abner, the son of Ner, Saul’s uncle.
Na Kis i papa bilong Sol. Na Ner, papa bilong Apner, i pikinini man bilong Abiel. And Kish was the father of Saul; and Ner the father of Abner was the son of Abiel.
Na i gat bikpela pait i strong tru i birua long ol Filistin long olgeta de bilong Sol. Na taim Sol i lukim wanpela strongpela man, o wanpela strongpela man bilong pait, em i kisim em i kam long em. And there was sore war against the Philistines all the days of Saul: and when Saul saw any strong man, or any valiant man, he took him unto him.
