¶ Na em i kamap olsem, long, taim Apolos i stap long Korin, taim Pol i bin wokabaut pinis long ol hap arere antap em i kam long Efesas. Na taim em i lukim sampela disaipel, | And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
Em i tokim ol, Yupela i bin kisim Holi Spirit bihain long taim yupela i bilip? Na ol i tokim em, Mipela i no bin harim liklik long i gat wanpela Holi Spirit i stap o nogat. | He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
Na em i tokim ol, Yupela i kisim baptais nau long wanem samting? Na ol i tok, Long baptais bilong Jon. | And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.
Nau Pol i tok, Tru tumas, Jon i baptaisim wantaim baptais bilong tanim bel, taim em i toktok i go long ol manmeri, long ol i mas bilip long em husat i mas kam bihain long em, em i olsem, long Kraist Jisas. | Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
Taim ol i harim dispela, ol i kisim baptais long nem bilong Bikpela Jisas. | When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Na taim Pol i bin putim tupela han bilong em antap long ol, Holi Spirit i kam antap long ol. Na ol i toktok wantaim ol tok ples, na autim tok profet. | And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
Na olgeta dispela man i stap klostu olsem twelpela | And all the men were about twelve.
¶ Na em i go insait long sinagog, na toktok wantaim pasin bilong i no pret long taim olsem tripela mun, taim em i tok pait na pulim tingting bilong ol long ol samting long sait bilong kingdom bilong God. | And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.
Tasol taim bel bilong kain kain bilong ol i go strong, na ol i no bilip, tasol ol i toktok nogut long dispela rot long ai bilong bikpela lain tru, em i lusim ol, na brukim ol disaipel, taim em i tok pait olgeta wan wan de long skul bilong wanpela Tiranas. | But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
Na dispela i stap yet long hap taim olsem tupela yia. Inap long ol olgeta husat i stap long Esia i harim tok bilong Bikpela Jisas, ol Ju na ol Grik wantaim. | And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
Na God i wokim ol narakain mirakel long ol han bilong Pol, | And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
Inap long ol i bringim long bodi bilong em i go long ol sikman ol hankasip o ol epron, na ol sik nogut i lusim ol, na ol spirit nogut i lusim ol i go ausait. | So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
¶ Nau sampela bilong ol tripman Ju, ol man bilong rausim spirit nogut, i kisim antap long ol yet long singaut antap long ol husat i gat ol spirit nogut long nem bilong Bikpela Jisas, i spik, Mipela i tok strong long yupela long nem bilong Jisas husat Pol i autim. | Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
Na i gat sevenpela pikinini man bilong wanpela Siva, wanpela Ju, na nambawan hetman bilong ol pris, husat i mekim olsem. | And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
Na spirit nogut i bekim na tok, Jisas mi save, na Pol mi save, tasol yupela i husat? | And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
Na dispela man, insait long husat dispela spirit nogut i stap, i kalap antap long ol, na winim ol, na winim pait birua long ol, inap long ol i ranawe ausait long dispela haus skin nating na bagarap. | And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
Na olgeta ol Ju na ol Grik tu i stap long Efesas i save pinis long dispela. Na pret i pundaun antap long ol olgeta, na ol i litimapim nem bilong Bikpela Jisas. | And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
Na planti husat i bilip i kam, na tok yes, na soim ol wok bilong ol. | And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.
Planti bilong ol tu husat i yusim ol narakain save samting i bringim ol buk bilong ol wantaim, na kukim ol long ai bilong olgeta man. Na ol i kaunim pe bilong ol, na lukim dispela em i 50,000 hap silva. | Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
Olsem na tok bilong God i go strongpela tru na winim olgeta samting. | So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
¶ Bihain long ol dispela samting i pinis, Pol i wokim tingting insait long spirit, taim em i bin wokabaut namel long Masedonia na Akea, long go long Jerusalem, i spik, Bihain long mi bin go long dispela hap, mi mas lukim Rom tu. | After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.
Olsem na em i salim i go long Masedonia tupela bilong ol husat i wokim wok long em, Timotias na Erastas. Tasol em yet i stap yet long Esia liklik taim. | So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.
Na long dispela taim stret wari i kirap long sait bilong dispela rot i no liklik. | And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.
Long wanem, wanpela man husat nem bilong em em Demitrias, wanpela man bilong wokim silva, husat i wokim ol liklik haus silva bilong piksa god Daiana, em i bringim planti winmani long ol saveman bilong wokim naispela wok, | For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen;
Husat em i singautim wantaim, wantaim ol wokman bilong wankain wok, na tok, Ol bikman, yupela i save long dispela naispela wok, yumi gat ol bikpela mani samting bilong yumi. | Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth.
Na moa tu yupela lukim na harim, long i no long Efesas wanpela tasol, tasol klostu long olgeta hap namel long Esia, dispela Pol i bin pulim tingting na tanim i go planti manmeri long lusim, taim em i toktok long i no gat ol god, dispela ol han bilong man i wokim, | Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:
Inap long i no dispela naispela wok bilong yumi tasol i laik bagarap na kamap samting nating, tasol tu long tempel bilong dispela bikpela god meri Daiana ol man i ken tingim olsem em i samting nating, na biknem tru bilong em i ken bagarap olgeta, husat olgeta Esia na dispela graun i lotuim. | So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.
Na taim ol i harim ol dispela toktok, ol i pulap long belhat tru, na ol i singaut, i spik, Daiana bilong ol lain Efesas em i bikpela. | And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.
Na dispela biktaun olgeta i pulap wantaim pasin paul. Na taim ol i bin holimpas Gaias na Aristakas, ol man bilong Masedonia, ol poroman bilong Pol long ol wokabaut, ol i ran hariap wantaim wanpela bel i go insait long bikpela haus bilong wokim amamas. | And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.
Na taim Pol i gat laik long go insait i go long ol manmeri, ol disaipel i no larim em. | And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not.
Na sampela bilong ol nambawan hetman bilong Esia, husat i stap ol pren bilong em, i salim tok long em, taim ol i askim em long em i no ken traim laip bilong em yet insait long dispela bikpela haus bilong wokim amamas. | And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theatre.
Olsem na sampela i singaut wanpela samting, na sampela narapela. Long wanem, dispela bung i paul. Na planti hap moa long ol i no save long wanem as bilong ol i kam bung wantaim. | Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused; and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.
Na ol i pulim Aleksandar ausait long bikpela lain tru, na ol Ju i putim em i go long fran. Na Aleksandar i wokim mak wantaim han, na em i gat laik long wokim toktok bilong lukautim nem bilong em long ol manmeri. | And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defence unto the people.
Tasol taim ol i save long em i wanpela Ju, olgeta i singaut wantaim wanpela nek long taim nabaut olsem tupela aua, Daiana bilong ol lain Efesas em i bikpela. | But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.
Na taim kuskus bilong taun i bin kolim daun bel bilong ol manmeri, em i tok, Yupela ol man bilong Efesas, wanem man i stap husat i no save olsem long biktaun bilong Efesas em i lain bilong lotuim dispela bikpela god meri Daiana, na bilong dispela piksa i lusim Jupitar i kam pundaun long dispela graun? | And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?
Nau taim yumi luksave i no gat man i ken toktok birua long ol dispela samting, yupela mas stap isi, na yupela i no ken mekim wanpela samting hariap. | Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.
Long wanem, yupela i bin bringim hia ol dispela man, husat i no stap ol raskol stilman long ol sios, o yet ol man bilong tok bilas long god meri bilong yupela. | For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.
Olsem na sapos Demitrias, na ol man bilong wokim naispela wok husat i stap wantaim em, i gat wanpela samting i birua long wanpela man, lo i op, na i gat ol tultul i stap. Larim ol kotim wanpela i go long narapela. | Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another.
Tasol sapos yupela i askim wanpela samting long sait bilong ol arapela samting, ol bai skelim long wanpela bung i bihainim lo. | But if ye enquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.
Long wanem, yumi ken kisim bagarap sapos ol man i kotim yumi long dispela bikpela paul nabaut bilong tude, taim i no gat as we yumi ken givim stori gut long en bilong dispela bung. | For we are in danger to be called in question for this day’s uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse.
Na taim em i bin toktok olsem, em i salim dispela bung i go. | And when he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.
