¶ Wankain olsem, yupela ol maritmeri, stap aninit long ol man bilong yupela yet. Inap long, sapos wanpela i no bihainim tok bilong God, ol maritmeri i ken winim ol tu ausait long tok bilong God wantaim pasin bilong ol, | Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
Taim ol i lukim pasin i stap klin tru bilong yupela i pas wantaim pasin pret. | While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
Husat bilas bilong ol, no ken larim i stap dispela bilas bilong ausait bilong tantanim gras, na werim gol, o putim tru ol naispela klos. | Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
Tasol larim em i stap dispela man hait bilong bel, long dispela samting i no bagarap, yes, bilas bilong spirit bilong pasin isi na i no gat nois, dispela i gat bikpela pe long ai bilong God. | But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
Long wanem, long bihainim dispela kain pasin long taim bipo ol meri holi tu, husat i putim bilip long God, i bilasim ol yet, taim ol i stap aninit long ol man bilong ol yet. | For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:
Yes, olsem Sara i bihainim Ebraham, taim em kolim em bikman. Bilong husat yupela i stap ol pikinini meri, inap long taim yupela i mekim gutpela, na yupela i no stap pret wantaim wanpela kirap nogut tru. | Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
Wankain olsem, yupela ol maritman, stap wantaim ol bilong bihainim save, taim yupela i givim ona long meri, olsem i go long bodi i no gat strong olsem yupela yet, na olsem taim yupela i stap ol pikinini wantaim i kisim marimari bilong laip long papa, inap long em i no ken pasim rot bilong ol prea bilong yupela. | Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
¶ Na las, yupela olgeta i mas gat wanpela tingting, na gat pasin sori wanpela i go long narapela, laikim tru olsem ol brata, stap pulap long pasin sori, na mekim gutpela pasin. | Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
No ken bekim pasin nogut wantaim pasin nogut, o daunim tru wantaim daunim tru, tasol samting i narakain olgeta, blesim, taim yupela i save long God i singautim yupela long dispela, inap long yupela i ken kisim wanpela blesing olsem samting papa i givim pikinini. | Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
Long wanem, em husat bai laikim tru laip, na lukim ol gutpela de, larim em holim bek tang bilong em long tok nogut, na ol lip bilong em long ol i no toktok wantaim gris tingting. | For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
Larim em ranawe long pasin nogut, na mekim gutpela pasin. Larim em painim bel isi, na bihainim dispela. | Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
Long wanem, ol ai bilong Bikpela i stap antap long ol stretpela man, na ol ia bilong em i op long ol prea bilong ol. Tasol pes bilong Bikpela i birua long ol husat i mekim pasin nogut. | For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
Na em i husat husat bai bagarapim yupela, sapos yupela i stap lain bilong bihainim dispela samting i gutpela? | And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?
Tasol na sapos yupela i karim hevi long sait bilong stretpela pasin, amamas i stap long yupela. Na no ken stap pret long pret nogut tru bilong ol, o pilim wari. | But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
Tasol mekim God Bikpela i stap holi insait long ol bel bilong yupela. Na stap redi oltaim long givim wanpela bekim long olgeta wan wan man husat i askim yupela long as bilong dispela hop i stap insait long yupela wantaim pasin bilong stap isi na pret, | But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
¶ Taim yupela i gat gutpela mausbel, inap long, we ol i toktok nogut long sait bilong yupela olsem, olsem ol man bilong mekim pasin nogut, ol i ken pilim sem husat i giaman na sutim tok long gutpela pasin bilong yupela insait long Kraist. | Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
Long wanem, em i gutpela moa, sapos laik bilong God i stap olsem, long yupela karim hevi taim yupela i mekim gutpela pasin, long yupela i karim hevi taim yupela i mekim pasin nogut. | For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
¶ Long wanem, Kraist tu i bin karim pen long ol sin wanpela taim, stretpela man bilong helpim man i no stretpela, inap long em i ken bringim yumi long God, taim ol i mekim em dai long bodi, tasol Spirit i givim laip gen. | For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
Long dispela tu em i bin go na autim tok long ol spirit i stap long kalabus. | By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
Husat sampela taim ol i sakim tok, taim wanpela taim bipo pasin bilong karim pen longpela taim bilong God i wet long ol de bilong Noa, taim Noa i redim sip, we insait long en liklik lain, em olsem, etpela tewel, God i kisim bek long wara. | Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
¶ Dispela wankain piksa olsem we long yes, baptais nau tu i kisim bek yumi (i no taim man i rausim i go doti tru bilong bodi, tasol em i bekim bilong gutpela mausbel i go long God,) long kirap bek bilong Jisas Kraist. | The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Husat i go pinis long heven, na i stap long han sut bilong God. Ol ensel na ol man i gat namba na ol man i gat pawa God i mekim long stap aninit long em. | Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.
