¶ Was gut long yupela i no givim sori mani bilong yupela long ai bilong ol man, inap long ol man i ken lukim. Sapos i olsem, yupela i no gat pe long Papa bilong yupela husat i stap long heven. | Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
Olsem na taim yu givim sori mani bilong yu, no ken winim wanpela biugel i go paslain long yu, olsem ol man bilong tupela maus i mekim insait long ol sinagog na long ol rot, inap long ol i ken kisim glori long ol man. Tru tumas, mi tokim yupela, Ol i kisim pe bilong ol pinis. | Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Tasol taim yu givim sori mani, no ken larim han kais bilong yu save long han sut bilong yu i mekim wanem, | But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
Inap long sori mani bilong yu i ken stap hait. Na Papa bilong yu husat i lukim ol samting hait em yet bai givim pe long yu ples klia. | That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
¶ Na taim yu beten, yu no ken stap olsem ol man bilong tupela maus i stap. Long wanem, ol i laikim tru long beten taim ol i sanap long ol sinagog na long ol kona bilong ol rot, inap long ol man i ken lukim ol. Tru tumas, mi tokim yupela, Ol i kisim pe bilong ol pinis. | And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Tasol yu, taim yu beten, go insait long liklik rum bilong yu, na taim yu bin pasim dua bilong yu pinis, beten long Papa bilong yu husat i stap long ples hait. Na Papa bilong yu husat i lukim ol samting hait bai givim pe long yu ples klia. | But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
Tasol taim yupela i beten, no ken yusim ol wankain wankain toktok nating, olsem ol haiden i mekim. Long wanem, ol i ting long God bai harim ol long ol toktok planti bilong ol. | But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Olsem na yupela i no ken stap olsem ol. Long wanem, Papa bilong yupela i save long wanem ol samting yupela i gat nid long en, bipo yupela i askim em. | Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
¶ Olsem na yupela i mas beten i bihainim dispela kain pasin, Papa bilong mipela husat i stap long heven, Nem bilong yu em holi olgeta. | After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Kingdom bilong yu i mas kam. Laik bilong yu ken kamap long dispela graun, olsem em i stap long heven. | Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Givim long mipela tude bret bilong mipela bilong olgeta wan wan de. | Give us this day our daily bread.
Na lusim ol dinau bilong mipela, olsem mipela i lusim ol dinau bilong ol man i gat dinau long mipela. | And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Na no ken bringim mipela i go long traim, tasol kisim bek mipela long samting nogut. Long wanem, kingdom em i bilong yu, na pawa, na glori, oltaim oltaim. Amen. | And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Long wanem, sapos yupela i lusim long ol man ol pasin bilong sakim lo bilong ol, Papa bilong yupela i stap long heven bai i lusim bilong yupela tu. | For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Tasol sapos yupela i no lusim long ol man ol pasin bilong sakim lo bilong ol, Papa bilong yupela tu bai i no inap lusim ol pasin bilong sakim lo bilong yupela. | But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
¶ Na moa tu taim yupela i tambuim kaikai, no ken gat, olsem ol man bilong tupela maus, wanpela pes i soim hevi. Long wanem, ol i senisim ol pes bilong ol long luk nogut, inap long ol i ken kamap ples klia long ol man long ol i tambuim kaikai. Tru tumas, mi tokim yupela, Ol i kisim pe bilong ol pinis. | Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Tasol yu, taim yu tambuim kaikai, makim het bilong yu wantaim wel, na wasim pes bilong yu, | But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
Inap long yu no kamap ples klia long ol man long yu tambuim kaikai, long Papa bilong yu tasol husat i stap long ples hait. Na Papa bilong yu, husat i lukim samting long ples hait, bai givim pe long yu ples klia. | That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
¶ No ken bungim i stap bilong yupela yet ol samting i dia tru long dispela graun, we bataplai bilong nait na ras i bagarapim, na we ol stilman i brukim i go namel olgeta na stil. | Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Tasol bungim i stap bilong yupela yet ol samting i dia tru long heven, we i no gat bataplai bilong nait o ras i bagarapim, na we ol stilman i no brukim i go namel olgeta o stil. | But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Long wanem, we samting i dia tru bilong yupela i stap, bel bilong yupela bai stap long dispela hap tu. | For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Lait bilong bodi em i ai. Olsem na sapos ai bilong yu i stap gutpela, bodi olgeta bilong yu bai pulap long lait. | The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
Tasol sapos ai bilong yu i stap nogut, bodi olgeta bilong yu bai pulap long tudak. Olsem na sapos dispela lait i stap insait long yu i stap tudak, dispela tudak i bikpela moa! | But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
I no gat man i ken bihainim tupela bosman. Long wanem, em bai hetim wanpela, na laikim tru arapela, o sapos nogat em bai holimpas wanpela, na tingim olsem arapela em i samting nating. Yupela i no inap bihainim God na mani samting. | No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
¶ Olsem na mi tokim yupela, No ken tingting planti long laip bilong yupela, long yupela bai kaikai wanem, o yupela bai dring wanem, o yet long bodi bilong yupela, long yupela bai putim wanem samting. Ating i yes long laip i moa long kaikai, na bodi i moa long klos? | Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Lukim ol pisin bilong skai. Long wanem, ol i no planim, na tu ol i no kamautim, o bungim ol samting insait long ol bakstua. Tasol Papa bilong yupela i stap long heven i givim kaikai long ol. Ating i yes long yupela i mobeta moa long ol? | Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Husat bilong yupela, long taim em i tingting planti, i ken skruim wanpela kyubit long longpela bilong em? | Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
Na bilong wanem yupela i tingting planti long klos? Tingim na skelim ol lili bilong ples kunai, long ol i go bikpela olsem wanem. Ol i no hatwok, na tu ol i no tantanim rop. | And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
Na yet mi tokim yupela, Long, yes, Solomon long olgeta glori bilong em i no putim naispela klos olsem wanpela bilong ol dispela. | And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Olsem na, sapos God i givim klos olsem long gras bilong ples kunai, dispela i stap tude, na tumora ol i tromoi i go long aven, ating i yes long em i inap moa long givim klos long yupela, O yupela bilong liklik bilip tru? | Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
Olsem na no ken tingting planti, i spik, Mipela bai kaikai wanem? O, mipela bai dring wanem? O, mipela bai werim klos wantaim wanem samting? | Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
(Long wanem, olgeta dispela samting ol man i no Ju i painim i bihainim.) Long wanem, Papa bilong yupela i stap long heven i save long yupela i gat nid long olgeta dispela samting. | (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
Tasol yupela i mas painim pastaim kingdom bilong God, na stretpela pasin bilong em. Na olgeta dispela samting bai God i skruim i go long yupela. | But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Olsem na no ken tingting planti long tumora. Long wanem, tumora bai tingting planti long ol samting bilong em yet. Inap long dispela de em ol samting nogut bilong en. | Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
