Na ol ia bilong olgeta manmeri i stap op long dispela buk bilong lo. | And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law. |
Na man bilong rait Esra i sanap antap long wanpela pulpit diwai, dispela ol i bin wokim bilong dispela wok. Na klostu long em Matitaia, na Sema, na Anea, na Yuraisa, na Hilkaia, na Measeaia i sanap, long han sut bilong em. Na long han kais bilong em, Pedea, na Misel, na Malkaia, na Hasum, na Hasbadana, Sekaraia, na Mesulam i sanap. | And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
Na Esra i opim dispela buk long hap ol ai bilong olgeta manmeri i ken lukim. (Long wanem, em i stap antap moa long olgeta manmeri.) Na taim em i opim dispela, olgeta manmeri i sanap. | And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:

Na ol i lindaunim ol het bilong ol, na lotuim BIKPELA taim ol pes bilong ol i go long graun. | And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground. |
Na tu Jesua, na Bani, na Serebaia, Jamin, Akup, Sabetai, Hodaija, Measeaia, Kelita, Asaraia, Josabat, Hanan, Pelea, na ol lain Livai, i mekim ol manmeri bilong kisim save long lo. Na ol manmeri i sanap long ples bilong ol. | Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.
Olsem na ol i ritim long buk bilong lo bilong God klia, na givim ol mining, na mekim ol long kisim save long dispela rit. | So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
¶ Na Niemaia, husat i stap Tirsata, na pris Esra, man bilong rait, na ol lain Livai husat i skulim ol manmeri, i tokim olgeta manmeri, Tude em i holi i go long BIKPELA, God bilong yupela. No ken soim sori, o krai tru. Long wanem, olgeta manmeri i krai tru, taim ol harim ol toktok bilong lo. | And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the Lord your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.
Nau em i tokim ol, Go long rot bilong yupela, kaikai samting i gris, na dringim samting i switpela, na salim ol hap skel i go long ol husat i no gat wanpela samting wanpela i redim long ol. Long wanem, tude em i holi i go long Bikpela bilong yumi. Na tu yupela i no ken stap sori. Long wanem, amamas tru bilong BIKPELA em i strong bilong yupela. | Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
Olsem na ol lain Livai i mekim olgeta manmeri long stap isi, i spik, Pasim maus bilong yupela, long wanem, dispela de em i holi. Na tu yupela no ken gat bel sori. | So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved.
Na olgeta manmeri i go long rot bilong ol long kaikai, na long dring, na long salim ol hap skel, na long wokim bikpela amamas, bilong wanem, ol i bin kisim save long ol dispela toktok ol i tokaut long ol. | And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.
¶ Na long namba tu de ol nambawan hetman bilong ol papa bilong olgeta manmeri i bung wantaim, ol pris, na ol lain Livai, i go long man bilong rait Esra, yes, long kisim save long ol toktok bilong lo. | And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law.
Na ol i lukim insait long dispela rait bilong lo BIKPELA i bin tok strong long han bilong Moses, long ol pikinini bilong Isrel i mas stap long ol haus win long bikpela kaikai bilong namba seven mun. | And they found written in the law which the Lord had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month:
Na long ol i mas mekim i kamap ples klia na autim toksave long olgeta biktaun bilong ol, na long Jerusalem, i spik, Go ausait i go long maunten, na kisim ol han bilong diwai oliv, na ol han bilong diwai pain, na ol han bilong diwai mirtel, na ol han bilong diwai palmen, na ol han bilong diwai bilong ol patpela diwai, bilong wokim ol haus win, olsem rait i stap pinis. | And that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.
Olsem na ol manmeri i go ausait, na bringim ol, na wokim bilong ol yet ol haus win, olgeta wan wan antap long rup bilong haus bilong em, na long ol ples op bilong ol, na long ol ples op bilong haus bilong God, na long ol rot bilong dua bilong banis wara, na long rot bilong dua bilong banis Ifraim. | So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim.
Na olgeta bung bilong ol manmeri bilong ol husat i kam gen ausait long kalabus i wokim ol haus win, na sindaun aninit long ol dispela haus win. Long wanem, i stat long ol de bilong Jesua, pikinini man bilong Nun, i kam inap long dispela de, ol pikinini bilong Isrel i no bin mekim olsem. Na i gat amamas i bikpela tru i. | And all the congregation of them that were come again out of the captivity made booths, and sat under the booths: for since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun unto that day had not the children of Israel done so. And there was very great gladness.
Na tu, olgeta wan wan de, i stat long namba wan de i go inap long las de, em i ritim long buk bilong lo bilong God. Na ol i holimpas bikpela kaikai sevenpela de. Na long namba et de, wanpela bung holi i stap, bilong bihainim pasin bilong en. | Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.
