¶ Tasol mi pasim tok long mi yet long dispela, long mi no gat laik long kam long yupela gen wantaim hevi. | But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.
Long wanem, sapos mi mekim yupela sori, em i husat nau husat i mekim mi amamas, tasol dispela stret husat i kamap sori long wok bilong mi? | For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?
Na mi raitim dispela stret long yupela, nogut, taim mi kam, mi ken gat bel hevi long ol husat mi sapos long wokim amamas tru, taim mi gat dispela strongpela bilip long yupela olgeta, long amamas tru bilong mi em i amamas tru bilong yupela olgeta. | And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
Long wanem, ausait long planti hevi na taim hevi i krungutim bel mi raitim long yupela wantaim planti aiwara. I no long yupela i ken gat bel sori, tasol long yupela i ken save long dispela laikim tru mi gat planti moa yet i go long yupela. | For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.
¶ Tasol sapos wanpela i bin mekim bel sori long kamap, em i no bin givim bel sori long mi, liklik tasol, inap long mi no ken givim hevi tumas long yupela olgeta. | But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.
Inap long kain man em dispela mekim save, dispela em i kisim long planti. | Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.
Inap long dispela i narakain olgeta, mobeta yupela i mas lusim sin bilong em, na givim bel isi long em, nogut i gat sans long planti bel hevi tumas i ken daunim kain man olsem olgeta. | So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
Olsem na mi askim yupela plis strong long yupela i ken strongim laikim tru bilong yupela i go long em. | Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.
Long wanem, long dispela as tu mi bin raitim, inap long mi ken save long samting bilong pruvim yupela, long sapos yupela bai bihainim tok long olgeta samting o nogat. | For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.
Long husat yupela lusim sin bilong wanpela samting, mi lusim tu. Long wanem, sapos mi lusim sin long wanpela samting, long husat mi lusim, long tingim yupela mi lusim dispela long nem bilong Kraist, | To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;
Nogut Seten i ken kisim wanpela helpim bilong winim mipela. Long wanem, mipela i no ol man i no klia long ol plen bilong em. | Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
¶ Na moa tu, taim mi kam long Troas long autim gutnius bilong Kraist, na Bikpela i opim wanpela dua long mi, | Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,
Mi no gat malolo insait long spirit bilong mi, bilong wanem, mi no painim pinis brata bilong mi Taitas. Tasol taim mi tok gutbai long ol, mi lusim dispela ples i go long Masedonia. | I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.
Nau mi tok tenkyu long God, husat olgeta taim i mekim yumi long win insait long Kraist, na mekim test bilong save bilong em i kamap ples klia long wok bilong yumi long olgeta wan wan ples. | Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
Long wanem, mipela i stap long God wanpela switpela test bilong Kraist, long ol husat God i kisim bek pinis, na long ol husat i lus olgeta. | For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
Long wanpela mipela i stap test bilong dai i go long dai, na long arapela test bilong laip i go long laip. Na husat em inap long ol dispela samting? | To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
Long wanem, mipela i no olsem planti, husat i bagarapim tok bilong God. Tasol olsem bilong trupela bel, tasol olsem bilong God, long ai bilong God mipela i toktok insait long Kraist. | For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
