1 Men wi bedje eder, käre bröder, för wårs HERras JESu Christi tilkommelse, och för wåra församlings skull i honom: Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2 At I icke snarliga låten beweka eder ifrån edart sinne; icke heller förskräcka, hwarken genom anda, eller genom ord, eller genom bref, lika som det sändt wore af oss, såsom Christi dag för handen wore. That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3 Låter ingen förföra eder i någon måtto; ty han kommer icke, utan tilförene sker affall, och uppenbar warder syndenes menniska, förtappelsens barn. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Hwilken är en motståndare, och uphäfwer sig öfwer allt det Gud eller Gudstjenst kallas; så at han sätter sig i Guds tempel, såsom en Gud, och gifwer sig före som han wore Gud. Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
5 Minnens I icke, at jag sade eder detta, då jag ännu war när eder? Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6 Och hwad ännu hindrar, weten I; at han skall warda upenbar i sin tid. And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7 Ty han werkar allaredo ondskona hemliga; allenast den der nu hindrar, han måste komma af wägen. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8 Och så warder då den Onde upenbar, hwilken HERren skall dräpa med sins muns Anda; och skall göra en ända med honom, genom sin tilkommelses upenbarelse; And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9 Hwilkens tilkommelse sker efter Satans werkan, med alla lögnaktiga krafter, och tekn, och under: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 Och med all förförelse til orättfärdighet, ibland dem som förtappade warda; derföre, at de icke anammade kärleken til sanningena, at de måtte salige wordet. And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 Fördenskull skall Gud sända dem kraftig willfarelse, så at de skola tro lögnene: And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 På det de skola alle dömde warda, som icke hafva trott sanningene, utan hafva lust til orättfärdigheten. That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 Men wi skole alltid tacka Gudi för eder, käre bröder, älskade af HERranom, at Gud hafver eder utwalt til salighet af begynnelsen, genom Andans helgelse, och i sanningenes tro. But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14 I hwilko han eder kallat hafver genom vårt Evangelium, til wårs HERras JESu Christi härliga egendom. Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Så står nu, käre bröder, och håller eder wid de stadgar, som I lärt hafwen, ehwad det är skedt af wårt ord eller bref. Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
16 Men sjelfwer wår HERre, JESus Christus, och Gud och wår Fader, den oss älskat hafwer, och gifwit en ewig tröst, och et godt hopp genom nådena: Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
17 Han hugswale edor hjerta, och styrke eder uti all lärdom, och goda gerningar. Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
