1 Премудрост сазида себи кућу, и отеса седам ступова; Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
2 Покла стоку своју, раствори вино своје, и постави сто свој. She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
3 Посла дјевојке своје, те зове сврх висина градских: She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
4 Ко је луд, нека се уврати овамо. И безумнима вели: Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
5 Ходите, једите хљеба мојега, и пијте вина које сам растворила. Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
6 Оставите лудост и бићете живи, и идите путем разума. Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.
7 Ко учи потсмјевача, прима срамоту; и ко кори безбожника, прима руг. He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.
8 Не карај потсмјевача да не омрзне на те; карај мудра, и љубиће те. Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.
9 Кажи мудроме, и биће још мудрији; поучи праведнога, и знаће више. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
10 Почетак је мудрости страх Господњи, и знање је светијех ствари разум. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
11 Јер ће се мном умножити дани твоји и додаће ти се године животу. For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.
12 Ако будеш мудар, себи ћеш бити мудар; ако ли будеш потсмјевач, сам ћеш теглити. If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.
13 Жена безумна плаха је, луда и ништа не зна; A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
14 И сједи на вратима од куће своје на столици, на висинама градским, For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
15 Те виче оне који пролазе, који иду право својим путем: To call passengers who go right on their ways:
16 Ко је луд? нека се уврати овамо. И безумноме говори: Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
17 Вода је крадена слатка, и хљеб је сакривен угодан. Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
18 А он не зна да су ондје мртваци и у дубоком гробу да су званице њезине. But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.
