1 Сине мој, ако примиш ријечи моје, и заповијести моје сахраниш код себе, My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
2 Да пази ухо твоје на мудрост, и пригнеш срце своје к разуму, So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3 Ако призовеш мудрост, и к разуму подигнеш глас свој, Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4 Ако га устражиш као сребро, и као сакривено благо ако добро устражиш; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5 Тада ћеш разумјети страх Господњи, и познање Божије наћи ћеш. Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
6 Јер Господ даје мудрост, из његовијех уста долази знање и разум. For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
7 Чува правима што доиста јест, штит је онима који ходе у безазлености, He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8 Да би се држали стаза правијех, а он чува пут светаца својих. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9 Тада ћеш разумјети правду и суд и што је право, и сваки добри пут. Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10 Кад дође мудрост у срце твоје, и знање омили души твојој, When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11 Помњивост ће пазити на те, разум ће те чувати, Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
12 Избављајући те од зла пута, од људи који говоре опаке ствари, To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
13 Који остављају праве путе да иду путовима мрачнијем, Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14 Који се радују зло чинећи, и играју у злијем опачинама; Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
15 Којих су путови криви, и сами су опаки на стазама својим; Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:
16 Избављајући те од жене туђе, од туђинке, која ласка својим ријечима, To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
17 Која оставља вођа младости своје, и заборавља завјет Бога својега. Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
18 Јер к смрти води дом њезин, и к мртвима стазе њезине. For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
19 Ко год уђе к њој не враћа се, нити излази на пут животни. None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.
20 Зато ходи путем добријех, и држи се стаза праведничких. That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
21 Јер ће праведници наставати на земљи, и безазлени ће остати на њој. For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
22 А безбожни ће се истријебити са земље, и безаконици ће се ишчупати из ње. But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
