1 А Јов одговори и рече: But Job answered and said,
2 Како си помогао слабоме! како си избавио руку нејаку! How hast thou helped him that is without power? how savest thou the arm that hath no strength?
3 Како си свјетовао онога који је без мудрости и показао разум изобила! How hast thou counselled him that hath no wisdom? and how hast thou plentifully declared the thing as it is?
4 Коме си говорио те ријечи? и чији је дух изашао из тебе? To whom hast thou uttered words? and whose spirit came from thee?
5 И мртве ствари створене су под водама и становници њихови. Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.
6 Откривен је пакао пред њим, нити има покривача погибли. Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.
7 Он је разастро и сјевер над празнином, и земљу објесио ни о чем. He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
8 Завезује воде у облацима својим, и не продире се облак под њима. He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.
9 Држи пријесто свој, разапиње облак свој над њим. He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it.
10 Међу је поставио око воде докле не буде крај свјетлости и мраку. He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.
11 Ступови небески тресу се и дркћу од пријетње његове. The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at his reproof.
12 Силом је својом поцијепао море и разумом својим разбио бјеснило његово. He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud.
13 Духом је својим украсио небеса, и рука је његова створила пругу змију. By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.
14 Гле, то су дијелови путова његовијех; али како је мали дио што чусмо о њему? и ко ће разумјети гром силе његове? Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?
