1 А Софар Намаћанин одговори и рече: Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,
2 Зато ме мисли моје нагоне да одговорим, и зато хитим. Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for this I make haste.
3 Чуо сам укор који ме срамоти, али ће дух из разума мојега одговорити за ме. I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.
4 Не знаш ли да је тако откако је вијека, од како је постављен човјек на земљи. Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth,
5 Да је слава безбожнијех за мало и радост лицемјерова зачас? That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?
6 Да би му висина допрла до неба, и глава се његова дотакла облака, Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;
7 Нестаће га за свагда као кала његова; и који га видјеше рећи ће: куда се дједе? Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?
8 Као сан одлетјеће, и неће се наћи, и ишчезнуће као ноћна утвара. He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.
9 Око које га је гледало неће више, нити ће га више видјети мјесто његово. The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.
10 Синови његови умиљаваће се сиромасима и руке ће његове враћати што је отео. His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.
11 Кости ће његове бити пуне гријеха младости његове, и они ће лежати с њим у праху. His bones are full of the sin of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.
12 Ако му је слатка у устима злоћа и крије је под језиком својим, Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue;
13 Чува је и не пушта је, него је задржава у грлу свом, Though he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:
14 Ипак ће се јело његово претворити у цријевима његовијем, постаће у њему јед аспидин. Yet his meat in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him.
15 Благо што је прождро избљуваће, из трбуха његова истјераће га Бог. He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.
16 Јед ће аспидин сисати, убиће га језик гујињи. He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper’s tongue shall slay him.
17 Неће видјети потока ни ријека којима тече мед и масло. He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter.
18 Вратиће муку, а неће је појести; према благу биће промјена, и неће се радовати. That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein.
19 Јер је тлачио и остављао убоге, куће је отимао и није зидао. Because he hath oppressed and hath forsaken the poor; because he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not;
20 Јер није нигда осјетио мира у трбуху свом, ни што му је најмилије неће сачувати. Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.
21 Ништа му неће остати од хране његове. Зато не може добро његово трајати. There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods.
22 Кад се испуни изобиље његово, тада ће бити у невољи; све руке невољнијех удариће на њ. In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.
23 Кад би напунио трбух свој, послаће на њ Бог јарост гњева својега, и пустиће је као дажд на њега и на јело његово. When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him while he is eating.
24 Кад стане бјежати од оружја гвозденога, простријелиће га лук мједени. He shall flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of steel shall strike him through.
25 Стријела пуштена проћи ће кроз тијело његово, и свијетло гвожђе изаћи ће из жучи његове; кад пође, обузеће га страхоте. It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yea, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors are upon him.
26 Све ће таме бити сакривене у тајним мјестима његовијем; прождријеће га огањ нераспирен, и ко остане у шатору његову зло ће му бити. All darkness shall be hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.
27 Откриће небеса безакоње његово, и земља ће устати на њ. The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.
28 Отићи ће љетина дома његова, расточиће се у дан гњева његова. The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.
29 То је дио од Бога човјеку безбожному и нашљедство од Бога за бесједу његову. This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.
